You guys kind of took that the wrong way. Tavor XCR etc are classed as non restricted because they follow the barrel length rule. I complete understand that. What I'm saying is ARs are restricted by name. Not barrel length. If the AR became non restricted by name then barrel length still shouldn't have anything to do with it. In theory. I know you guys are hooked on the barrel length thing but it's 2 different classifications.

Anyways a Non Res AR even with a 18.5" barrel would be fantastic

You have such a weird way of thinking. There is no such thing as "non restricted by name". If they make it so the ar is no longer restricted by name then it would be like any other semi auto centre fire rifle needing to me the non restricted requirements. 26 inches oal and barrel length of 18.5 inch. And if it does not meet those requirements then it will remain restricted.

You're dreaming if you think they're going to let us hunt and plink with an AR with a 7.5 inch barrel

Okay I'll bite. What has led you to believe more firearms are going to be banned? Even after the CPC said change is coming before summer?

Its already June no news yet.....still waiting for the RCMP to be held accountable for the Swiss arms debacle. (crickets)

Not only the Swiss arms they need to be held accountable for high river too!
My question was even with the CPC saying change is coming. What makes him think MORE firearms are going to be banned. Even if they don't make change. I don't see it getting worse like Andrew suggested.

And you fail your firearms law test a SECOND time!!! Laugh2

here is what you need to study before you post again :

- XCR comes in both non-restricted and restricted configuration, and that is ONLY a matter of barrel + overall length. If its not a variant of a restricted/prohib and is not capable of being converted into FA easily, then it is classified as non-restricted. Then if the rifle comes in a configuration where either barrel length and/or OAL do not meet the non-restricted requirements, it becomes restricted again. Change the configuration so that it meets barrel length and/or OAL requirements for NR, and it becomes NR again. See how that works? Same would go for AR if restriction by name was canned.

- Rossi Ranch hand is a lever action. Barrel + overall length restrictions apply to semi-auto rifles only.

And u think CPC will ALWAYS stay in power? If Liberals or NDP form a minority/majority government, then there is a possibility they will ban more firearms.
Any progress made by the CPC can be undone by future governments.
