No one posted the Calibre teaser here yet? From their Facebook page:
We just got off the phone with Colt Canada, and we have a bit more news to report on the upcoming line of commercial rifles: We can now confirm that all commercially available rifles manufactured by Colt Canada will be marked with the familiar Diemaco logo and the maple leaf. None of the components used within will be factory seconds, leftover stock, or anything of that ilk; the lowers are newly manufactured specifically for the commercial market (so as to ensure automatic sears cannot be installed) and the trigger group is semi-automatic only, but all other components and parts are exactly the same parts as those found in rifles issued to the Canadian Forces. The initial run will be commemorative 30th Anniversary special edition models that will ship in Diemaco boxes and emulate the C7A2 and C8A3 models, albeit with black furniture. Thereafter, Colt Canada expects to unveil possibly five additional models, some of which will use Colt Canada's Integrated Upper Receiver monolithic upper. They even have a little bit of green furniture that may adord a line of special editions down the road. And after that may come commercial lowers, uppers, barrels, parts kits, and other component sales for the DIY crowd.
But the best news is this: the approval that was pending from the US State Department has arrived. Even better still is the news tha an FRT number, although unpublished as yet, has been issued for the first two commemorative models. And with a distribution deal pending in the next few days, Colt Canada expects to be shipping the first of these guns by the end of the month, and we here at Calibre may have the chance to handle the first production models in a matter of mere weeks! So check back for more information, as we find out about it...
