Since when did Miroku ruin a once nice firearm with all this tripe using awful font? I'm shocked the message is not in Spanish on the other side for the US market and French for here FFS. We know where its made. Can you imagine if the auto industry marked cars the same way:rolleyes:

Boy, that is ugly. I'm surprised they didn't put the instructions and safety warnings on there as well. I wouldn't be buying that, unless it was just a utility firearm. Why can't they just let guns be pretty? :)

Regardless of the society we live in,that is just plain stupid... they should have put all that crap on the underside of the barrel. WINCHESTER & CALIBER ONLY on top... I agree with the OP that is ugly and irritating.

yeah, and so is Kathleen Wynne - but then, I'd like to put her under a barrel - and toss it over Niagara Falls.

It's a damned shame!

NAA.

Wordiness aside at least it's probably a better built Winchester then what Winchester USA could build themselves.

My new Winchester 1873 is marked the same way, but being a round barrel, the printing doesn't stick
out near as bad as on that octagon barrel. I'm glad that the beasty is made by Miroku as they are of
good quality. You can thank ITAR for all extra info stamped on imported guns these days.

How about all the "Before using gun- Read the warnings in the instruction manual-Available free from Sturm
Ruger & Co. Inc. Southport Conn. USA" crap they put on Rugers for a long time?
Lawyers just love to mess up our lives.:(:bangHead:f:P:

At least on cars, the info crap is under the hood.:)

I find it amusing that your gripe is with the manufacturer, not the Olin Corporation who owns the Winchester trademarks, or with Browning that has the licensing agreement to make the rifles, both of whom are probably the ones responsible for green-lighting the design and ie, the roll marks on the rifle. Made in Japan probably has to be stamped on there somewhere, there’s no getting around that, the rest was probably done on request of Olin, Browning or BACO inc.

The auto industry do mark their cars in the same way, but cars are a bigger, so you don't notice them as much.

wow!.......

LOL! Yeah - that does seem a little excessive...

So who exactly is it that is responsible for all the stamping craziness?

How's this? "Winchester 1885 Low Wall .22WRF Made in Japan."

I don't give a flying, furry rat's a$$ who imported it!

Seems to me like they were trying to say:

"This is a .22WRF 1885 Low Wall rifle that you think is a Winchester because it says Winchester but it's not. Don't think for a minute that this quality piece was made in the USA because they can't make them this good - especially Winchester, who imports half their stuff from other countries and just rebrands it to sell to you. It was us - Miroku - in JAPAN, who made this finely crafted firearm, so just remember that when you're out there shooting ragged little dime-sized groups at 50yds and blasting gophers offhand at 100yds with this thing. Oh, and some wankers called 'BACO Inc.' imported the thing, but refused to do so unless they were fully accredited with doing so on every unit. And just a reminder - again it's 'Winchester' who is the big phony here and taking all the credit for our exquisite craftsmanship. You can find them in Morgan, Utah - but don't look for the 'Winchester' building - look for the 'Ol_in Corp.' offices if you're stopping in to say hi - they're the illuminati who are truly behind this fraud known as 'Winchester'."

...in as few words as possible.

Yeah - that's what I think they were trying to say.

My uncle has one and it shoots like a hot damn - nice rifle.
