Globe Mohawk 555 value?

Seen a handful for sale, usually fairly cheap; around $300 for a typical one, and I have seen them for less.

Never owned one, but did a fair bit if internet research on them while seriously considering one. They seemed to have a fair bit of problems - iffy feeding, gas system pressure spike issues, headspace issues. Seems the consensus was to just buy a "real" svt-40 for less money and have a more reliable rifle.

I'm sure there are some good ones out there, but I decided not to take a chance.
 
Buying or selling? Most of 'em have bad headspace due to being assembled with no QC. Globco did 'em when 7.62 x 54 ammo was not available, but screwed most of 'em up by not ensuring the headspace was safe.
$300 to $350 is a good price considering most places can't give 'em away. There are few of 'em on the assorted auction/firearms sale sites either.
 
Given all the issues with them and not really a collectible, I wouldn't pay more than a couple of hundred bucks, mostly for the Curiosity factor.;)

They really aren't the greatest rifles. I've owned several over the years and have inspected quite a few more. Most that have been fired a bit have actions that are battered up pretty good due to the gas system not being adjusted properly for the .303 round. In the couple I've shot the operation and ejection was quite violent. I've now seen 2 of these with the rear of the receiver busted right off.

If the gas system was adjusted properly they would probably be ok. The ones I had fed and ejected reliably and were reasonably accurate. Triggers are typical milsurp and pretty horrible for a hunting rifle.

Mostly a novelty/curiosity in my opinion as well although with some tuning they could be made a lot better.

Very true. We used to call them Crap-Co back in the day for the reasons you stated. Iffy rifles at best.:(
