Hello everyone. Well im sad to say i was a victim of a facebook gun auction page mis led purchase. i was under the understanding i was bidding on a winchester 94 that needed slight repair. I won the auction at $305 and what luck i was in it was local to me so i went to pick it up. only to find out what i bought and paid for was a ted williams/ sears and roebuck model 100 winchester 94 knock off that needed a lil more the minor fixes the reciver tang that goes back to the butt stock is broke right off. so im here to ask is there any way that can be repaired with out spending massive amounts at a gun smith where they will most likely tell me its unrepairable or does anyone have a reciver i can purchase off them its a top eject 30-30 lever action. i know i paid more then this gun is worth in great shape and it is buyer beware so i admit it is my fault aswell but im just hoping to make this gun function being im already loosing my shirt. thanks.

Cut your losses and re auction it. The prices there are way out to lunch and you will probably find someone to buy it like you did

The guns with Sears/Roebuck markings are of high quality.
Whether or not you can get good repair on the tang at a low price will depend on your own mechanical ability and if you have a friend who is a welder.
I once had a good, old 94 Winchester with a long barrel and a broken tang.
The key to repairing it was for me to make a jig that would hold the tang, without the wooden stock, exactly how it had to be. I made a jig bolted to the receiver and to the broken piece of tang, at exactly the correct angles and position it would be when completed, and solid, so it couldn't move.
When the welder got done and it was ground and polished down then reblued, it was hard to see where the break had been.
Completely done without charges by amateurs at repairing broken tangs!

If you were in calgary I might have a go at it with my mig and some flap discs, but... I'm not sure but I may have an angle eject reciever in my closet somewhere (bare action) I'll have a look this evening. Acording to CGN rules though it's best to PM me regarding any transaction, but anyone else on this thread is welcome to post their thoughts on what a bare AE reciever is worth if your interested in purchasing it.

I picked up a hlaf dozen bare recievers from a guy on the EE about a year ago to use towards another 94 project or two and havent done much with them.

Crap, it was a marlin reciever sorry.

It's not a "knock off" at all, it is a Winchester made 94 with a Sears label on it.

See the one in my avatar pic? That is a Sears Model 45 but it is really a Marlin.

Not a knock off, it's abit of collector item. Ted Williams was an important and high profile advocate of the firearms and hunting, as well as a great ball player. It is worth the repair in my opinion.

I used to wtach his show on Maine PBS all the time!

well i welded it up with a mig and its solid, shot 20 rounds through it with no problems. now to smooth it out and re blue it. kinda funny i could do this repair but the gun smith refused.
