Picked up a crate of 7.62x39 today, only to find the spam cans missing.

I was planning on opening one can and storing the other - I wonder what type of conditions this ammo has already been subject to since being "un canned"

I ordered a crate of 7.62x54R and didn't get the crate when it arrived, just the cans - cant seem to catch a break and get what I actually want!

I guess I've got to ask before I buy from now on? Anyone else experience something similar?

only the sellier and bellot comme in a span can in my experience , romanian ammo are very good , good 3 crates of this stuff and 2 were brass case , the third one i dont know it didnt open it yet .
the first 2 crates of 7.62x39mm i bought were russian from 1951 and 1958 i think because they had a 51 stmaped and 58 on the other crate and always go bang

Mine came like that too. Didn't bother me cause it has the red sealant on the necks and primer making it not susceptible to moisture.
Plus mine is all brass cased so that's great.

Yup. Cut it with a Dremel tool. Pinch the ends with pliers and you're good to go. I never got around to it, but some have painted the pinched end so they know which end is up.

my chinese crate from Rouge River Arms - 2 cans. 1 can nicely fit into 5.56 NATO ammo box.

Too big, heavy and shallow for anything I need to store. I got storage covered with other containers. These are excessive and obsolete to me.

Yea mine is steel case with the red neck and primer. Has anyone tried cutting stripper clips so they are 5 shots instead of 10?

I shoot my SKS in CQB matches. We shoot 10 or 20 shots against the clock, but can only load 5 rounds at a time. The stripper clip is quite fast. I put 5 rounds on the clip and leave them at one end, using the other end as a handle to grab the clip out of my pouch.

Cutting the clip would make it slower and more awkward.
