New Barrel for my Xcr

I can see where they are coming from limiting short XCR barrels. It only took one guy to set the wheels in motion that ran over every lawful owner of a Swiss Arms rifle in Canada. Its hypothetical but nonetheless possible for the gun grabbers to swerve for XCR owners if NR XCRs start turning up unregistered with short barrels. Another group of us paved into a sh!tty political road for Wendy and friends to drive their taxpayer sourced paychecks straight to the bank while another political party gets the power out of the deal. No thanks. I don't trust Joe Public to abide by the law and hold up our end of the deal. It only takes one and he's out there. He doesn't give a f**k about the consequences. There's better options in the restricted playground for less coin, and superior options for similar coin. I only like them cos they're NR which suits me much better.

No offence, but this outlook is the reason we have these silly laws and restrictions in the first place. Just because one guy does something he knows is wrong, there is no reason to punish the rest of the group. Hold the individual accountable.

In the case of the Swiss Arms rifles, there is no "gun grabbing" conspiracy there. In that situation, there was a little lie told by a business (not held accountable as far as I know) to the RCMP a long time ago, and now it's come to light. There was simply no option for the firearms techs to do anything but reclassify them. It's a sad state of affairs and I think that the laws need to be rewritten into something that makes sense.

yes, why not?none of their business and it is perfectly legal to do so.

It is perfectly legal to sell and buy lots of firearms but one CGN'er got harassed by the CFO for buying and selling too many firearms.

No, the RCMP/CFO/public will not look at it the same way as you do (holding the individual accountable). They will categorize us with the one guy who did not follow the law.

pretty common to have them visit and call when you have more then 10 or am I just the exception?

I even had the Chief firearms officer from my province visit my home before my license was approved.

None taken but I feel you are slightly out of touch with reality. Just because you think there is no reason to punish everybody does not mean everybody is not punished when something happens. Its simply the way things work in this country. I m not the reason for the firearms act. That's silly.

It's perfectly legal to own a short barrel. Once it's installed you would need to register your XCR. Businesses have taken it upon themselves to passively police the gun owning population by simply not selling these items. The excuse I get is "all it takes is one person to ruin it". Wolverine is not the only one, North Sylva dosen't sell short Tavor barrels OR the barrel wrench for this exact reason. I'd imagine Gravel won't provide short ACR barrels either.

If you really want a shorter barrel, you'll need have one made from a blank. I would contact Herron Arms for this. They will need your gas system and barrel extension (or a spare off of another barrel), as well as your rifle to test fit and function. I've have three barrels made and all have been excellent.

Which is all ridiculous really. I could import a restricted xcr at any time from the US. The world wouldn't end, I could find one way cheaper there used and get a conversion kit to de-register it and still spend way less money on the deal than buying a used one here.

Plenty of rifles here are sold in restricted and non-restricted lengths, with either quick changes barrel systems or upper swap capabilities.

Not illegal as long as you register as required, when required.

You're exactly right. That's the reality of the situation. If we ever hope to change our silly laws, it will start by changing the way we think.
