Wanstalls Exclusive Chiappa Alaskan Scout 12" -- Limited Run

If you are going to hunt "GREAT" bears in nothern B.C.? You'd better bring a bigger gun!!! Over 2900 ft. lbs. is a 30-06 with 180 gr. bullet at 2700 fps. The .375 H+H are all over 4000ft.lbs.

Guided, and personally shot many bears. There isn't one alive that can't be killed by a stout .44mag. I shot a black bear last year @46yrs with a 300gr XTP, rolled about 20m down a hill and that was it. I had a 12yr old girl DRT a beautiful blond bear with a 243. Bears die easy if you shoot strait.

The Hungry hill bear. An already angry, wounded bear, stuck in a snare would soak up lead from any rifle. 2 338's? I heard it was a barrage of 12ga slugs, before that I heard it was a few mags of service pistols. that story gets better every time I hear it.

99% of the experts on this forum will never see an aggressive yogi in their lives.

Keep us posted Wanstalls on the next run, missed this one, but I'll be a perfect "co-pilot" for my flight bag.

*drool* I'm normally not a lever action kind of guy, but that is GORGEOUS.

If only I hadn't just bought a motorcycle... :p

This is the perfect reason to buy a short, black and chrome rifle to lash across the bars :)

You guys have been watching to many T.V. shows!!!! When you are up close and personal . Bigger is Better!! Then of course there is The Hungry Hill Bears. They think there was 2 but they snarred one and when the 2 CO's came up close the bear snapped the snare and charged. It took 2 .338"s shooting multiple shots to put it down. The bear is a full mount at the Houston B.C. visitors centre. Walk up close and have a look then get back to me!!!!!! Talk is cheap!!!

I thought it was 2 50 BMGs and a rocket launcher.
Oh, I forgot that was Godzilla.
That story gets most embellished with :bsFlag: every time I hear it.
Last bear I shot was with a Rem model 7 in 308 Win pushing a 180 grain Nosler Partition bullet.
It rolled down the side of a hill for about 10 feet and lay stone cold dead.
That wasn't a "paper bear" from Field and Stream magazine either.

Well here we go again! The Hungry Hill Bear at Houston B.C. is or was 975 lbs. 11 ft. and they estimate its age at 18-22 yrs. old Once again why should facts get in the way of blowhard bluster?? Just last week a guide let his american client wound a grizzly just south of Houston and when they went back the next day the " GUIDE" shot the client dead. So much for guides!!!!

Talk is cheap. Bears are getting tougher and better equipped every year, just this week I saw 3 bears wearing body armor with trauma plates. One had his wife duct tape extra plates in exposed areas. I believe he also was carrying a brief case with trauma plates inside. Shoulder holsters with glock fourtas, the full bit. In fact, one charged my crew in a helicopter. NO JOKE, this sh!t is real!
Sometimes I think that they should call this forum CanadiangunEgos ... there sure are a lot of people that come here to show how much smarter and tougher they are than the next guy. Comments like "Go sit in the corner" and "Talk is cheap!!!", come on guys. I will continue to come here to check out what's new and available and keep my ego induced emissions to myself (I'm sure someone will point out that this comment is exactly that lol). Anyway, my Alaskan should be here tomorrow, can't wait.
Anybody who thinks a 30-06 won't do the job needs to go sit in the corner and do some reading on terminal ballistics.

I also ordered one of these rifles. It's too bad my employer states I need to use a 12 gauge for bear defense. These guns would be nice to carry.

would love one in 16"...

side fact just for fun not sure if it is mentioned yet but world record polar bear .44mag revolver took down.

I found some near identical 16" takedowns in .44 and .357 last night while looking for a scabbard. I won't post a link in Wanstalls forum, but feel free to PM me for it of you'd like.

Mine shipped out today. Hope to have it by the weekend. Thanks Wanstalls!

Apparently the RCMP have just announced making some of the Chiappa and Puma short lever guns as restricted!

Anyone know the real story to this?

We're proud to announce a cooperative venture with Chiappa Firearms of Italy to bring a LIMITED RUN of these Wanstalls exclusive rifles to Canadian sports shooters, hunters, and those who work our great outdoors! We have just received the full production run of only two dozen of these non-restricted carbines here at our shop and they are absolutely gorgeous. These exclusive rifles have a matte hard chrome finish to resist the elements along with the popular "Soft Touch" stock sets and fully adjustable sights to make the most of their .44MAG 5+1 capacity. Unlike most mare's leg rifles, these have a full length stock from the factory for improved handling, shooting comfort, and accuracy.

Words don't do these justice, and frankly pictures might not even add up to it either -- but in the interest of some gun #### for those of you looking to add one of these exclusive limited run rifles to your collection, let's just give it a try anyway... click to make these much larger if you're so inclined! ;)

These are available IN STOCK right now, and you can get yours by clicking HERE or the banner image above. With only two dozen of these, they're not going to stay in stock for long!

Cheers,
Daniel

picked up a 20" version of this rifle on the weekend.

great experience at wanstalls, everyone was super friendly and the sale went smoothly.

i have a question about the rifle though as its my first time owning a "pistol" calibre rifle. what would be the heaviest load i could shoot through this?

would i be able to put some 340gr .44 mag +P+ (buffalo bore) through this without too much concern? or should i be keeping it in the +P and below range?

any suggestions for a round that can be used for protection against black bears or other predators?

TIA

K I'd take one 16" in .357, 44 mag or .454 please thanks...
Seriously these things sell themselves, just tell them you want to bring another 5 or 1000 into Canada.

Here she is: (got three dirty digits in the pic too!)

Very nice quality. Miles above my rossi ranch hand, amost as nice as my Winchester! Beveled feed on the breech. The elevator sight is slightly flimsier than the one on my Winchester but by no means cheap. I like the sights, it's square front and rear notch like a handgun. Takedown is solid. Rubber coated wood is very nice! As well as light. Has no tang saftey, it has the half #### position.
All in all it's a beautiful gun and if 16's come out I'll be real tempted to get one. (This ones my dads)

You would need to check bullet length on that 340gr. May need to free bore the gun
