Hey guys. I'm heading down to the gun store tomorrow to purchase a pistol range kit and was wondering if anyone has any hands on experience with both these pistols? I hear they're both really good pistols and I can't really go wrong with either but I'd like to hear what you guys think. I may also consider a Jericho 941 as well. The pistol will only be used for target shooting and not competition. So which one would you go with if you were choosing?

Get them in your hand and see which grip feels better. If you find that the PPX grip feels good in your hand, get it. I personally find the hump is a little too pronounced and it doesn't sit right in my hand but the trigger pull is amazing. The standard trigger on the M&P 9 is way too gritty and the high tang means that, in my case, my trigger finger rests on the upper part of the trigger rather than the lower. It's got a hinged trigger so there's a lot more pull required to get the trigger to break if you're pressing on the upper portion. Having said that, I replaced the default trigger with an APEX trigger and it shoots very well now. Apart from the trigger, the M&P is very nice and very reliable.

I'm going to pick up a PPQ tomorrow myself.

I've shot the Walther PPQ, M&P Pro, and standard M&P back to back so i'll provide my 2 cents.

The trigger on the PPQ is the best of the bunch. Very tactile reset and crisp break.

M&P Pro shot the tightest group. Probably due to the longer 5" barrel. The trigger was better than standard but not by that much. The standard M&P is a good pistol, and I was planning on getting this for my first handgun. Now i'm actually leaning to the SIG P320, CZ shadow, or Strike one... don't ask lol

If the Walther feels good in your hand, go with it... The M&P has an awful trigger, outside of that it's fine. If you go with it,
you'll need to factor in the price of one of the good aftermarket triggers to replace the factory unit.

M&P all the way. Ergonomics IMO are much better. I held the PPX the other day and it feels alright but the M&P just feels awesome. The trigger is not desirable but I hardly notice it anymore. The trigger reset is pretty short,And it looks badass. PPX looks like a nice Hi point. I would also recommend the Ruger SR9 it is a good price for a striker fired polymer. But I never regretted getting my M&P40.

Another factor to consider is the availability of magazines, parts, holsters, and accessories. M&P wins in that category by a wide wide margin.

really? I thought I had seen 500 people complaining only on this forum about finding parts & magz for the mp, so I can feel a little bit of fanboyism in that statement.
It's all good though, you like it, great.
But I don't think that statement is true.

F$$$ even finding mags for the P30 is easier. lol

I've never, ever seen a complaint about finding M&P mags. They've always been available every time I've looked.

Parts are another issue. Definitely hit and miss, but I can't think of any other pistol available in Canada that has better parts availability (perhaps Glock, but I haven't shopped for Glock parts in years). At least there are multiple supply chains in place for M&P parts. Can't say that for the Walther.

I have just about every spare part you can buy for my M&P 9 Pro Series. Got them all from Brownell's. Mags are not hard to find. It's the M&P 22 that's made by Walther in Germany that you cannot get parts for.

I have both an M&P 9mm and a 941 in .40. The M&P has the Apex kit in it, the 941 is bone stock. If I have to choose which one is coming to the range with me, it's the 941 - in spite of the fact ammo costs more. I find it much easier to get accuracy out of it.

Thanks for the input guys. So I decided to go with the M&P9 as I really just couldn't get over the looks of the PPX. I figured I'll just get a PPQ down the road if I really get the urge to pick up a Walther.

Just bought my PPQ from Wanstalls today. Anyone had issues with the RCMP IWS online service?

I called to check on the status of my STATT and was informed that I should try using their online service. I went to the webpage and tried to register for an account. After entering my data, I got a message saying that it didn't match their records. Naturally they were all gone for the day when I called because it was after 3pm.
