Set up for Tavor?

People I'm looking for a red dot and would love your opinion... I'm currently looking at Aimpoints and have come to the conclusion that a PRO is a very good priced but should I spend the extra $ and get the Micro? I do want the best looking red dot for the Tavor, meaning badass looking! Is the micro to small looking? I'm not concerned about weight cause I bench 250 ;) . What do you think or prefer, any pic's! Thanks
 
The pro works fine on the tavor, plus it comes with a lower third cowitness mount (with the option to remove a spacer and make it complete co witness). Thats about the ideal height for an optic on the tavor IMHO. I think a micro looks better on a tavor, but thats just me. Plenty of pics of both on this forum and google. Another thing to keep in mind with the pro is the fact that theres a big honking knob on the left side of the mount, so if you're both a righty and like your sights set forward on a rail, this knob could get in the way while manipulating the charging handle. You could probably just flip the mount around though.
 
I personally think the EXPS3's look great on the tavor along with a flip magnafier. Just baddass looking IMO.
 
I tried an elcan and found it sat too low to get a consistent cheek weld in the prone. Elcan equipped tavor owners who have shot prone chime in?
 
I've got old eyes, so I like as much magnification that I can afford to mount on my rifles as long as they fit well!

I tried an ACOG TA31 4X on my Tavor first. It worked OK, but at 100-200 yards I find 4X is just not enough for me to get a good sight picture. A few weeks ago I changed out the ACOG and went to a NF 2.5 - 10 X 32 mounted in ARMS high rings for my Tavor.

However, what I have found is that due to the Tavor sight line vs the barrel centre, if I sight in for close range action shooting then move to 100 yard plus shooting I have to dial the scope up and down, a lot. Which I find to be a bit of the PITA.

Since I have a 'spare' Jpoint sitting in my gun room, I have decided that I'm going to purchase the 30mm tube mount for it and add it on top of the NF.
I'm going to set the RDS for close range shooting and zero the scope at 100 yards.

FYI - I am one of the guys that got the Timney trigger (added spring already with great results), I also added a Surefire brake, IMHO the Tavor is a treat to shoot now. I had the gun out to the range last weekend to sight the NF scope in. I was using AE 55gr FMJ plain Jane ammo and with just a front rest I was able to obtain 1.75 - 2 MOA with it!!!
I'm heading out this weekend to try shooting some match ammo along with a rear rest. Range report with photos will be coming very soon!

It's tough to make out, but yes, that's a hair over 4 lbs with the Timney!

I have astigmatism, my eye sight isn't actually that bad but red dots are a no-go for me. Just blurry, so I'm stuck with traditional scopes. Currently running a vortex pst 1-4x24 with good results.

Looking forward to getting an elcan like many others but it's a lot of cash for something that will barely out preform my current set up.

Eotechs are good with astigmatism, aimpoints are a no go though.

I've done quite a bit of research and it seems that eotechs are good for SOME people with astigmatism but not all. I am only pointing this out as I wouldn't want someone to read this and go ahead and purchase one without first trying it. Not saying I've done this but trust me it sucks haha
 
I used two different sights on the two Tavors I've owned.

the first has an Aimpoint CompM4S with QRP2 mount like the PRO...with the spacer I found it to be the perfect height.

for my second Tavor I used a Trijicon RMR on a tall American Defense mount (there's a guy on the EE using my pic, actually). It was a good height for me, and was very light, although it looks a little...I don't know..."off", for the size of the rifle.

For the price I'd go for the PRO--it's an excellent value.

Oops...just noticed your latest post--the Micro is a great sight. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.
