Anyone notice this? I looked at CBC news today and was shocked at the image at the top of the screen, 42, 52 or MG-3?

I saw that too. Couldn't believe my eyes. I assume a fully functioning MG42?

What would happen to it once it's use as evidence is done?

Could be one of those converted to semi, bunch of them imported at one time and sold as non restricted, believe it or not. ;) Course they all became Prohib with the new gun law.

Grizz

like every other gun crushed and smelted. a guy using a family hammy down back in the post war years it was common for surplus guns such as mg42's,Thompson's,mp40's,sten guns to be used in organized crime flash forward to the 70's and to Compton California you will see m1 carbine's being used. odd thing to see one being used today

From the article:

A table displaying machine-guns seized during a previous raid with links to Clemenza served to emphasize the potential for violence.

So these weren't even part of this particular bust. Just some that they had from a previous "related" bust that they trotted out for the photo op about "Gunz! Scary Gunz! Evil Gunz! And Mobsters! And scary Gunz! Look at da Gunz!"

Slimy anti-gun PR crap is what it is.

At lest they have that "Looking thingy that goes up" properly positioned LOL

Wait, I just realized... Is that an SKS in tactical plastic lying on the table beside it?

Side note: Now I know why it's so hard to get 8mm Mauser... The Montreal Mob must have been stockpiling it all for the SturmgeMob Blitzkrieg they were planning.

MG42 and MG3 look very much the same until you look at the bullets

I am well aware of that. The likelihood of MG3s getting into Canada I think would be much lower than the MG42 however and many of them were brought back after the war, sold surplus etc.
Although it certainly IS possible to be an MG3 being as we ARE speaking of the criminal element.
