30,000 round plus DD MK18

Live4thehunt, that looks like the FDE Ceracoated Sig P226 Mk25 under the glass on the right hand side... I'm drooling over that as much as i am your SBR. I sold 2 pistols, and lost quite a bit of money, to buy either the Elcan FDE SpecterDr 1-4x 5.56 or a DD MK18. Still can't make my mind up. It'll go on the big brother to your SBR, the block 2 M4A1. Custom build, not DD.

good to hear, I've only got mine for about a month and I doubt I'll shoot it as much as you did yours but it sure is a nice gun.
are you running yours with no rail cover at all? I found just the ladder wasn't even enough once it starts getting hot. I've added more XTM since the below pic.

That's either 1,000, 3,000 or 6,000 mag changes. ;)
I think the OP should double down this thread to include a magazine torture test/review! :D

Sounds like an excellent group of shooting buddies, good on ya.

I wear gloves, my ladder rails almost melted.

Ya there's a lot of nice stuff there. Yesterday I bought the last fde Fnx tac and the finishing touches to my noveske. I actually planned on building another noveske in 300blkout but redddog's opening post convinced me to try a DD. If you like FDE pistols my USMC colt rail gun from prophet river should be here next week hahahaha

Makes sense, mine was starting to ask for gloves last time at the range.

One other question; have you shot it with the dragon?
Mine has a BCM comp right now and flash and concussion are barely tolerable (at the indoor range anyway). Bet it's worst with the Lantac...

The Lantac will see 400-600 rounds this Sunday night. I will post how it works out.

I shot one with a surefire break a little while ago... I peeked to see what was ratting my theet from a couple stalls away. Holy frakking fireball with the norc stuff for sure.
waiting for a KX5 for mine now

This is a great thread for those of us just warming up to AR's. Usually, I am a revolver/lever gun guy. I bought a Ruger SR556E just to see how I feel about the platform, just to get my pinky toe wet (I know piston-driven can be different), however now I know where to go for quality if I stick with it. I try to keep my guns for the long term. For those that "know" and the rest that think they "know" -there is a big difference. Knowledge is no substitute for experience. Of course it is important to go to multiple sources for information, but what you have told us about the DD MK18 and the photos provided to back up your claims, will keep this in the back of my mind for when I make my next AR purchase.

For all you froglube haters this rifle has been properly frog lubed since day one

Great post, I've been experimenting with FL.Can you give us a quick "snap shot" of what your cleaning regime was and if you heated up the parts? and what you used?. Thanks

When I clean the BCG, it first gets a 30 min cycle through the ultrasonic (after complete disassembly) in a vinegar, water, dish soap mix. Then blown dry with compressed air, at this time any remaining carbon is scraped off then heated with my wife's old hair dryer, and frog lube paste is brushed onto all surfaces, it is left an hour or so to cool and allow the FL to solidify again, then wiped clean and reassembled. The upper has a patch with hoppe's 9 run down it and patched another 7-8 times dry (I could lie and say I do it till the patch comes clean, but frankly I don't). I clean the chamber with a chamber brush and hoppe's 9 and wipe clean with a chamber mop, then heat the upper with hair dryer and brush with FL paste, let cool, wipe clean and viola clean gun. Occasionally, and I do mean occasionally I get back to my old ways and use some liquid FL on the bolt however it guns up faster than I like doing this, so usually it is dry after it's pasting and wiping.
