Hey guys, so I just received a Hensoldt RSA in a trade, and I'd never really paid attention to the attachment system on them until I had my own. There's no bolt! No threaded anything! It's just a fairly stiff springy push button that clamps it to the Picatinny rail.

I haven't had much time to test the sight yet due to rain and work, but I'm wondering if anyone else here has had experience with how this sight holds zero? I honestly think that a mere spring isn't enough to keep it in place, considering it only takes a bit of thumb pressure to move the sight on the rail. I know it's supposed to be German military approved, but it just seems a bit sketchy to me.

I plan on having the sight on my beat-it-up gun, and I need it to stay put, even when it's riding in a soft case under my truck seat.

It could not stand the recoil more than 200 rounds on my Desert Eagle 44 mag, send them pictures of the shattered base and no questions more asked, they just sended me a brand new one, no even asking to send them the old one... Tactical Import have great service... JP.

I have one on my Benelli M4 and it's seen some pretty rough use, bouncing on ATV's,etc.,no problems. Just be sure you have it attached properly, there's a little lip underneath on the rear lower portion of the mount which needs to rest in the Weaver/Picatinny slot.

Haha I can imagine a Desert Eagle would be fairly punishing to any optic...

bearkilr, the problem is that I'm gonna have this on a rifle, so any variation in zero is a bad baaaaad thing. I'd say on a shotgun, it's a bit less crucial.

I put one on a 9.3x62 Zastava and the recoil bounced it out of the EGW pic. rail. Sent it back to TI they said there was nothing wrong with the mount and sent it back. I have not tried it on anything else so we will see.

I would imagine the optics are fairly recoil proof. It seems some just have an issue with it coming off under heavy recoil, perhaps it stays zeroed even after coming off. Regardless, I prefer open irons on a heavily recoiling rifle, in conjunction with a scope in QD mounts. I haven't come across a red dot that's precise enough for my liking after 100 yards.

Red dot sights aren't meant for precision, they're a fast acquisition sight.
