.22 Ammo Stash

I am the London guy that got everything CCI last year. I cleaned out every CT again and again of stingers and minimags. I even went over to Strathroy and cleaned them out. Then I went to Gobles and bought their only box of velocitors for around $62.50. I am so glad I did! I could see the trouble coming a mile away. My wife thought I was crazy as she patiently waited in the car. I'll be right back with the CCI's...

Once I finished up with that I did the same with the federal 525 packs.

I try to pick up a case when it's on sale. I have +/- 11,000 of 22lr. I shoot a couple hundreds round every Thurs. night. It would take me awhile but you can never have enough.

I did some looking around and it turns out a few local Canadian Tires in the lower mainland actually got an influx of bluebox Federal. I went down and bought another four 525rd boxes, while it lasts. I have a feeling my mind will convince me to go back for more sometime this week...

Does anyone know why(in my region at least) that Canadian Tire seems to actually always get the best selection of .22lr in? My local WSS in Langley almost NEVER has any, same goes with a couple of local gun stores and Wal-Mart too. Would this be comparatively based on purchasing power?

What? That he admitted it. I think most of us are stockpiling. When it comes to running short of ammo, it's every man for himself.
Those that resent us, were too shortsighted to do the same. IMHO.
If the S ever does HTF, a brick of .22LR will be more valuable than a brick of gold.
I just wish my wife would allow me some room in her shoe closet, so I could get more!:)

I have about 6K rounds of Eley Black match of one lot number, 2K of RWS R50 match, 5K of RWS Rifle Match, 4K of Lapua Super Club, 5K CCI Blazer [in bricks, not loose]
5K of WW 555, 1K of Lapua Midas M, 1K of RWS Special Match 1K, of Eley Tenex, and about 5K of random odds and ends [Polar Biathlon, Lapua Master M & L, Center-X, Eley Sport, Eley practice, Federal 525's, Win 333's, Lapua Speed Ace, Old PMC Zapper, Automatch, R100, etc, etc.

Looks like a lot of ammo, however, I am feeding a couple of dozen 22 rifles, including 6 that are target units.

Regards, Eagleye.

I am a cheap b@stard and don't like spending more than I have to. I also don't like running out of ammo or that feeling of running low and then limiting my shooting to try and conserve what I've got left. So I, like many other prescient individuals, have built up a nice little stash. Well in advance of the current "shortage" and price increases. That means while the unprepared and easily panicked fight over what they can find, I can go and enjoy my hobby without the added stress.

If you are just starting to build your stash only buy what you need for now and wait until you see a sale. That's when you bring the dolly out and buy by the case. Very easy to stock up this way and protect yourself from market fluctuations. Looking at the current prices for 9mm and 22lr only has me wishing I had bought more.

I have maybe a couple of thousand rounds of various brands. I bought a case of 5000 a while ago and have gradually used much of it...I've been picking up a 500 round box here and there when I find it [okay, maybe more than a couple of thousand].

Buying ammo by the case is a New Thing, relatively speaking...I think it's a big part of the reason it's getting hard to find. Aren't there a couple of manufacturers bringing new facilities online this summer? I hope so...I shoot quite a bit of .22.

Wolverine Supplies has CCI Mini Mags for $7.99 right now. Which is a surprisingly great price, until you calculate shipping and realize why the ammo is cheap. $43 to ship 1000 rounds to Toronto. Really ?

According to what I'm seeing here I must be on starvation rations when it comes to 22 ammo.Might be able to scare up a couple thousand or so I guess, and all of them were on hand here well before any shortage came into play.I could easily bump that number up because I believe most of the gunshops I frequent seem to have a fairly good supply on hand at the present time.

I have a few thousand but from what I've seen there is no shortage. I've had no issue getting ammo whenever I need it and most of the stores I frequent always seem to have 22 in stock. I think the so called shortage depends on how close you live to a ammo hoarder who cleans out every store he goes to. You get a few of those guys in your small town and you'll be lucky to see a box.

Here's my current .22 ammo stash:

I hope to hit up the range this weekend and maybe find another round or two on the ground to add to the pile.
