Ruger Mini 30

Congratulations, I just bought the same rifle at the end of last month...getting it out to the range asap!
I'm not going to shoot anything but non-corrosive out of it, if you find a brand of ammo that's shooting nice groups out of your Mini 30, please let me know? I'll do the same! :)

I paid $764 plus taxes, apparently was on sale? I ordered it in last Oct so I wasn't obligated to buy it but had a good fit and feel so I decided to get it as only two showed up. Glad I did can't wait to try it this weekend! :)

Great deal!! I'm trying out MFS, Sellier & Bellot, and Federal ammo in my Mini30 this weekend, I'll let you know what groups the best!

These are great little guns! Mine is the "GO TO" bush gun and has accounted for a number of deer and one calf moose. A good hunting gun and a blast to shoot at the range!
All the best and enjoy the new toy!

The most accurate ammunition at 2 MOA was Federal...second was MFS at 3 MOA...shot better than I thought it would...but maybe
my opinion had been affected by my SKS, which shoots the same ammo...
Well, the Mini 30 has shown itself to be a legitimate shooter out to 100+ yards.

Thanks for the review. I bought some Barnaul 123gr FMJ and was able to shoot 40 round, didn't bother hanging a target as it was pouring rain just wanted to run some ammo thru it. No cycling issues and all spent shells went flying far lol! :)

The mini cycles hard from the factory but you can tune down the gas system with a smaller gas bushing or you can drive a 3/32 roll pin into the existing gas bushing. Spent casings travel half as far, it's easier on your optics and improves accuracy too.

Isn't the surplus ammo primers too hard for the Mini-30 firing pins? It seems they don't like surplus ammunitions (many misfires...). Did you, guys, test your rifles with romanian, russian, bulgarian, etc. stuff? Range reports would be greatly appreciated!

Sellier & Bellot is Czech ammo, it was grouping about 4" at 100 yards...the Federal 123 grain soft points were best, with MFS soft points second. Not going to shoot any junk through my Mini 30...

I love my Mini-30, and after experimenting with a few types of ammo, it is clear what the winner is: Hornady 123gr SST > Solid groups, always goes 'bang'….and its too nice a rifle to burn through the cheap and dirty stuff in.
