During a visit to a local vendor I found the AERO precision COP monolithic uppers and I was really impressed with them. I have just curious what others have thought of them? I am really considering one of these. I also like the fact that they are offered in several colors.

63 views and not one comment? I was there again today and was looking at some assembled 7" and 10" units and I must say that the fit and finish is some of the nicest I have seen and the burnt bronze was sweet. Actually I didn't see a color I wasn't happy with.

There was no rattle at all from the assembled unit even with mismatched colors and they had some really nice combinations.

I've got one on my "DMR" ARs. Its built like a tank

Top one. Sorry for the potato photo

- Monolithic COP Mid Length Upper
- White Oaks Armarment 223 Wylde Match Grade Barrel
- Syrac Ordinance Adjustable Gas Block
- Daniel Defense Superior Flash Suppressor
- BCM Gunfighter Large Latch
- Trijicon TA31 + RMR
- Lower is an Aero Precision Lower w/ DD internals + Geissele SSA-E trigger
- VLTOR EMOD stock

I bought an Aero Precision upper from IRG [I don't know what is meant by 'monolithic']. It fits better on my DA556 lower than the Chinese-made original [although it was by no means a bad fit to begin with].

I have an AP barrel on the way...I expect good things...

Monolithic is one piece.

Amazing product! I want one bad as well. Anyone figure out what size the rails come in?

Pre purchase research? They can be awesome in the store, but user feedback (for me) is important to making an informed purchase.

Exactly. That and I have had a few purchases in the recent months (ruger 10-22, XDM 9MM, Tavor) and ammo/accessories for them all has hit the bank account. I was also looking at the Troy Northern Guard but I think the only reason I liked it was the flag engraved in the lower, not a fan of the battleaxe stock. I like that I can buy the COP in stages so that the wife won't notice as much as a single purchase.

I waited a long time for these to show up here. They (Areo) had no interest in selling in Canada.
A couple of years ago they were kinda neat.....but now with the move to Light Weight, Thin and Key-mod. They are going out of style Fast!
The price is a little high don't you think. You can get uppers for $750
Monolithic was a buzz word from 8 years ago. No one is coming out with them. All the big names use quality parts and Thin, Light , Keymod Rails
No one wants Thick , Heavy chunks of Metal hanging off the front of their rifle.

Spend your money on a Nice Upper and a Keymod Rail from Noveske, BCM or Giselle.

2 cents :)

Personally not a fan of the keymod units that I have seen. I like the fact that it one piece and has one less point to loosen and rattle.
Keymod accessories are few and far between, and there are some issues with polymer accessories which is why Magpul came out with their M-LOK system. I like the fact that you can quickly swap the barrel out and change any rails with the kit, ie: full picatinny, half picatinny, flat (with QD options as well).

And yes, I'm biased having bought one in tungsten cerakote.

Well I bit the bullet so to speak and started with a lower (titanium) with BAD lever, UBR stock, MOE grip.

Now I will be waiting for a 14.5 barrel and mid length upper.

I also noticed the uppers have a very large brass defector as well compared to normal.

Well that settles it blaxsun has spoken I found my upper for my new build and I need to renew range membership off to gun works I go

Yo new guys see what I did there? I used the search button and found what I needed then bumped the thread with a useless comment.

My two cents is that they (granted all my monolithic experience is with Colt Canada IURs) maintain POI better when shot off barriers than any add on hand guard I have seen. Not a concern for the <25m crowd but when you are trying to drop a set of 300m targets from a window it matters.

Right now it's a toss-up between KeyMod and M-Lok. Noveske was first to market with KeyMod, but as I've mentioned - accessories are fairly limited. M-Lok is being put forward by Magpul and will almost certainly have universal support with any polymer-based accessories. I know Magpul is revamping all their product lines and will be offering M-Lok upgrade kits for current accessories while they simultaneously release new M-Lok specific ones.

Truthfully, the lightest builds are still ones running a polymer handguard setup.
