Signed up this week. The course requirements specify a hard shell open topped magazine holster. Will HSGI tacos meet the hard shell requirements?

I will be running a belt with a pair of HSGI tacos and a dump pouch.

Can confirm, was there Sunday.. Wearing HSGI tacos.. although on a Chest Rig..

Bring minimum 4 mags, if not 6 or you'll be running back to the bench more often.

I was also at yesterday's course. I used a 6 pouch chest-rig. It worked perfectly, but it definitely added more weight than I would have cared for to my chest and shoulders. I would definitely say that 6 mags is a good recommendation. It means more time shooting and less time running back to the bench to gas up your mags. Also, try to avoid the 10 pound LAR mags. The exercises will be a lot easier to do if you have USGI or MagPul 5/30 mags (or something similar). Don't get me wrong, almost anything will work. However, you'll have a lot more fun if you can adhere to these recommendations. YMMV.

agreed, watching the one guy fumble with short pistol mags during exercises was not fun.. definitely listen to what ccain said.

Water too.

Take a look at everything Jäger is carrying... with his feedback score, he has anything and everything...

I'll be either running a belt with HSGI tacos and a dump pouch or a High Ground plate carrier with HSGI tacos and a dump pouch.

I'll be using ATRS AT-15 10/10 magazines or USGI 5/30 if the AT-15 magazines prove unsuitable.

Gun will either be my Ruger SR-556 or a 11.5" frankengun. I'll likely have both on hand for the day. In both cases I have a single point sling setup.

As Magdump said said bring water. The training area is surround on all sides by berms with very little breeze, you'll want to hydrate early and often.
Supportive footwear is another must, the range is still under development and the ground is uneven.

I have registered for July 12 "workshop", I'm just wondering if VZ58 is good to go/used for this training?

one guy in our group was using a Kel_Tech SU-16 with the AR grip stock (his issue was with using the pistol mags and them being so short). As long as you can function it in a quick manner and do quick magazine swaps. I think it should be ok.
