Too much ammo?

Just wondering if its possible to have too much ammo?

For example, I just realized I have 750 rounds of .45ACP and I don't even own any firearms in that calibre!

this should be in General Firearms Discussion... not ammo... because this isn't that you have too much ammo... it's that you don't have enough firearms. time to go out and buy a 1911 or another firearm that will use up that .45ACP

The odd thing is I never owned a .45ACP but I always seem to buy a few boxes of whatever ammo I see a deal on when I am out, and while I have lots of 9mm and .22 which I do have firearms for, I am not sure how I ended up with so much .45ACP

Either you have the maximum amount of ammo permitted under the explosives act ( I think 250kg net explosive quantity) or you don't have enough ammo.
750 rounds of 45 is a perfect reason to buy a 45 firearm

I had about 300 rounds of surplus 223 ammo one time. Back then I found the problem easy to solve...I bought an AR! :)

I also have many rounds of ammo that I cannot chamber in a gun I own. :)

I've done the same with 22lr and before I knew it I had 30k +. I've stopped buying 22 now, especially since the last time I looked I walked out with a shotgun instead.

Just received a Norc ar15 clone that I bought to match the two boxes of .223 I bought 2 months ago. Of course I also picked up a crate of 5.56 with the rifle, but I had the ammo before the gun. You obviously need a .45 (1911? Kriss Vector? JR Carbine?) to deal with your surplussage of 250 rounds (500 is when you buy another case).

So what do you recommend for a .45 ?

Right now I have a SIG226 and G17 for 9mm and a Beretta 96A1 in .40SW

The glock I am not crazy about, I do love my SIG though, maybe a SIG in .45? What about S&W M&P ?

I don't know much about 1911's is there a specific model that is best?

Recent changes (in our favour) to the Explosives Act allow ammunition with a total powder / propellant weight of 225 kg works out to be about 150,000 rounds of .223 Remington - give or take. I believe that previously, it was "a reasonable amount".

Sooooo, I don't think you need to worry too much about your 750 x .45 ACP (less than .5 kg powder)

there is the standard (government) and compact often called the commander. from there it's really just what the different companies want to call them. you can get a norinco if you just want to experience a 1911, but you will need to smooth it up to make it a nice feeling gun. otherwise ruger, sam or Remington make $700 range 1911's.

just search for 1911 beginner threads.

that seems like so little, guess when i win the lotto i will have to build a separate building and get licensed.

"Saying u have too much ammo is the same as saying your having to much ###- no such thing"

Unless you're swimming with the ammo, or having ### with an ugly stalker mental-chick with sharp braces, I'd agree...

Buy a .45, your 'problem' will go away.

If your floor collapses, in your basement, you may have too much ammo.

If the crates & cases topple & you lose a toe, child, or family pet; you may have too much ammo.

If you could throw a blanket over the crates and call them furniture; you may have too much ammo.

If your wife finds out how much you have; you have too much ammo.........
