RO's who cheat

this is pathetic and sad. For some people,...honor or integrity are not held in high regard.

For me, the stakes are too small so I don't sweat these things.. I'll be happy to make it into the top 50% in a Level II. I can see how this can really affect the more competitive folk. Hopefully the book will be thrown at Paul Hendrix

Apparently Hendrix is a retired police officer?

There's only one appropriate outcome for anyone that does this sort of thing willfully and repeatedly. Or those who knowingly accept the benefit of the cheater's work. A life time ban. For things like this there's simply no such thing as "I'm sorry".

Dennis Mahoney-Bruer is a current cop on paid leave.. Just goes to prove that an LEO is as likely to suffer from a lack of morality as a mere mortal.

No real surprise there.....dishonesty and corruption comes in all forms , regardless of profession.......

Not terribly different than an RO who says, "IF....you are finished.....unload and show clear"

Yet, nobody utters the word cheating when that happens.

8.3.6 "If You Are Finished, Unload And Show Clear"

Not sure if is the word " IF " that surprises you or something else

Its the way it's said and the pauses that are interjected, not the words that are used...the competitor typically starts looking for missed targets after hearing this question asked in the way I describe....it's RO assistance plain and simple and some ROs seem to think it's acceptable.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that doesn't affect time. I'm no IDPA guy, but I understood last round fired was your final time.

It is.

This is is a question of "tone" (which I'm pretty sure isn't defined in any rule book). Asking the question in such a way to suggest the shooter isn't done; i.e. they've left a piece of steel standing or forgot a target.

It's kind of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't".

An RO who waits too long to issue the command "IFULSC" is hinting that the competitor needs to finish.
An RO who goes right to "IFULSC" is rushing the competitor and not giving them time to look/think and decide if something doesn't seem right.

In either case, the time wasted is penalty enough.

Not if you've completely missed a target. Any sort of hint from the RO is a huge advantage as far as HF goes. Even on a high hit factor stage.

Anyways, I digress...

If there has been time to say it out loud and time for the competitor to process it.....it would be penalty enough under almost any stage. I just checked and it would take 2.5 -3 seconds just to even hear it and react.

RO's were never meant to be, and should never be coaches! PERIOD!
When RO's give "Advice", they are doing a disservice to the sport!

I view an RO saying, emoting loudly here, "IIIIFFFFFF....you are Finished, Unload and show clear" the same as "I am thinking about DQ'ing you for.....(add your favorite 10. infraction).....pure coaching and\or intimidation!

How often have you heard an RO say "If I could make a suggestion here"? or "You know, you were really close to breaking 90"! or "You should really watch your finger on the trigger"!

RO's should keep their opinions to themselves, at least until the match is over! If there is an infraction, enforce the rule book, otherwise, don't intimidate the match clients!

Perhaps a new twist on wrapping up a stage should be used..?

Instead of the shooter stopping and then waiting for the "IYAFUSC" from the RO maybe the shooter should speak first...

ie bang bang bang... shooter stops, pauses then says "I'm finished"

THEN the ro starts his "IYAFUSC" routine.

This way, with the shooter indicaing he's done there's no way an RO can suggest otherwise. Once the shooter says "I'm finished" that's it... NO more shots allowed.

Just trying to wrap my head around this, I've read the Doodie thread over the last 2 days. This is a major hit to the integrity of the sport and calls several seasons of matches in that area into question. All that and people are getting worked up over how unload and show clear is said or asked to the competitor?

I guess hinting to newer shooters about forgetting a target or not dropping some steel is on par with adding and subtracting time to some of the games top competitors.

The RO in question is and idiot and should be banned from the sport.
