Are Swiss K31's and supply at dealers starting to run out?

I have been noticing that some dealers like Trade-Ex and SFRC of K31's are showing them sold out, are we starting to see the end of supply of these accurate and great priced milsurp rifles?

I heard that the last batch that came into the country was the last lot to be released from Swiss military storage as they are now all gone and sold out of service and we will not get anymore! Even the dealers in the US are saying this (Samco etc.) and they and Gunbroker are asking more for their ones then we are here in Canada.

If this is true it may mean those who don't have one better hurry up before they are all snapped up, what do the rest of you think about this?

I remember when they first came to market, and we're going for $79 in the US.
Mr. Diopter you'd probably know, was that 10yrs ago or so?

The lots of rifles that were imported last year comprised the last of the old military stocks held in Switzerland. As a result there will be no more large lots imported, but there are many thousands still held privately in Switzerland and we are always collecting small lots for import. So, in the future there will still be rifles available, but prices will be higher due to difficulty in acquiring stock, increased rarity and the high cost of the CHF. The good news is that these guns were privately owned and are generally in much better condition that the armoury stored guns.

Before that a decent K31 was in the $400.00 range, if you could find one. usually from individuals selling them off.
Then Army stocks were deem surplus and the beaver chewed stocks start appearing overseas cheap.

Back in UK in 1989, they were unknown and unloved. My R&GC at a nearby US air Force base, on which I was on TDY and therefore entitled, was selling the single K31 and K11 they had on the rack for $79 and $89 each.

I thought about it for almost three micro-seconds, then put them on lay-away while I sorted out the interminable British paperwork.

I've had them since.

Ammo is not available in most gun stores and no history to them like Mausers, Enfields and Garands. I doubt prices will climb to high. Having seen Simpson's at big US Gunshows, his prices are mostly sky high compared to other US Dealers.

It was the 1889s that were re-chambered to 30-30 and sporterized with cut down stock.

Some 96/11 and 1911s were re-chambered to .308 and sporterized with cut down stock.

Never heard of anyone messing with the K31 chambering.
Can't be done cost effectively.

Note the magazine size and placement related to the trigger in the main models.
96/11, 1911 and K11 are one one family and parts are mostly interchangeable except for stock and sights.

I think only CSC and P&S are the only dealers left with any K31's for sale, I wonder how many Jean at P&S has left for sale.

Calgary Shooting Center. Wholesale Sports also has some K31's but I don't know what importer they picked them up from and how many they'll have left.
