Hey all need a value on a Remington 12 gauge trap grad full choke with wood furniture in fair shape any info would be appreciated

Rem trap grade 870 nice gun usually have nice wood basically only used for 16yd or handicap ATA style shooting most shooters to day use a O/U under for these shooting sports. Would be a good gun for a new shooter $400-$600 depending on condition

FYI, furniture does not refer to the wood. Furniture is the visible small metal parts of a double gun: toplever, triggerguard, safety tab, forend release lever, etc. These parts are normally blued.

Never heard that before. In all my circles furniture has always meant the type of stock the gun is wearing.

As for OP, that is a terrible description. Make, Model, Condition and Caliber are the four most important descriptors of a firearm, and you have provided us with the two least useful descriptors of the lot.

Not doubting your experience but the term is consistently misused on this forum and elsewhere in Canada. The term originated in the gun-making centres of England and has been used to describe those pieces for at least 130 years. Speak with any knowledgeable gunsmith with experience working on double guns. The common mistake of using "furniture" to describe the wood pieces is understandable but wrong.

And, as you also indicated, I also haven't said anything about value for the simple reason is we haven't been given near enough information to form an opinion.

Wow a debate over my post huh I asked for a price on mu buddies gun and just relayed a message so next time I will do a better description but the last few replies didn't really help me but my thanks to the first few

nor will the first few, no one knows the model, the action, or the age. those are automatic questions to any gun guy.

Like I said earlier there hog I will get my description a little better next time. There big man feel better

So the last few replies didn't help you?

You post requesting help, a woefully inadequate description using incorrect terms. We ask for better description and correct politely your misused terms.

If you think the posts aren't helpful then you aren't learning. Instead of getting your back up, perhaps you might recognize that no one on here needs to do anything for you. You asked for help. Badly. Grow up!

Well mr back sorry my inadequate terms disturbed u but sorry I'm not a shotgun guy and I'm not up on shotgun terminology so my utmost apologies to anyone in the shotgun world and as I have said 2 times before I will check and double check my terminology next time I try to help out a friend so again I really really really apologize to whomever I offended

Oh FFS. If you want an appraisal of anything do us the courtesy of providing a picture. We are all more than happy to help, but nobody can help you if you do not provide us with an accurate description and one or two simple overall photos. Pictures will tell us a thousand times more than words ever can. If you want an appraisal you need to provide the appraisers with detailed information so they can help you!

Right now, your shotgun is worth between $100 and $10000. Remington has been making "12 gauge trap grad full choke with wood furniture" for more than a century over many different models. Also unless you qualify your "fair" condition with something like NRA Fair then it is useless as a descriptor. My layman's description of condition may be very different from anyone else's.

NRAMuseum.com : Evaluating Firearms Condition said:
FAIR: In safe working condition but well worn, perhaps requiring replacement of minor parts or adjustments which should be indicated in advertisement, no rust, but may have corrosion pits which do not render article unsafe or inoperable

Blastattack says it best. FFS!

Csik, your inadequate description and incorrect language doesn't disturb me. Your defensiveness and lack of appreciation for people trying to both help you learn and answer your question does, if by disturb you mean annoy.

Be childish and sarcastic all you want. I suspect people here who do know something about shotguns will be less than enthusiastic about helping you in the future.

Well again mr back i do appreciate anyone who tried to give me some advice and yes my description was vague but it was what I was given so not being a shotgun guy I wasn't up on your terms of furniture sorry again for that so I am not gonna waste my time on this post any longer so when I decide to be a shotgun guy which will probably be never I will send u a post and u can enlighten me on all the ins and outs of shotgun terminology but until then enjoy your weekend and thank you for all of your wisdom

Csik boatguy, maybe you can help me with a value on a buddy's boat. It is a Lund fishing boat, has a motor, and is in good condition.

Understand now? So don't get defensive because you asked your question in an expert forum. If you had said originally, "What information do you need to help with appraisal?" then we'd have no problem. Laugh it off.

So, like we said, pictures and a better description.

I think everybody got off on the wrong foot here. Let's move on. I'm sure the OP now knows what is needed for a proper evaluation. Cisk, it's always nice to have one more member join the ranks so hopefully you will stick around. If you should have any questions regarding a shotgun, there will be many willing to help. Lord knows I have asked enough questions in my time.
