625PC 5"=awesomeness + an empty wallet (for a little while), but worth it huh? It's on the list, but why is it so expensive?

Ruger SP-101 .357, with Hogue grips, lighter 8lb trigger return spring, 10lb hammer spring, 5 mil stainless shims on hammer, internal polishing and ejector rod polish (ejector rod done after this pic taken)....shoots great now and handles Hornady primers reliably as well as softer American Eagle/Federal primers...

This one was purchased @ Elwood Epps 3yrs ago....however, it has just moved to another G'nutz home.
Once you pull the trigger....you will want one!

I'd really like to get a .38sp blued/parked Colt revolver, but can't afford a Python. In the US lots of old police/military ones go for cheap. Are there any specific models that are easy to find in Canada with >4.2" barrels? Commando/Police/Trooper?
1892, Official Police, original Trooper (not the Mk III version, or I frame), Officers Model Match, all have the same basic lockworks as the Python. Not as fancy, but in the older ones anyway just as smooth. All were available in six inch barrels, so not just prohibs. Good hunting. - dan

Look for the Colt Model .357 revolver with the six inch barrel. It has the two tone blueing finish unlike any other. The excellent sights and that sweet trigger are already there. Often refered to the as the Pre-Python, at a considerably smaller cost then the Python revolver. Even the grips are interchangeable. Then shoot some tiny groups with it. A real sleeper!
