What WON'T a Mosin Nagant Kill?

Actually, I took my mosin deer hunting with 230 grain soft points and got some flak for having too much gun.

The only hunting 7.62x54r ammo I can get my hands on are MFS 203-gr soft-point bullets. $24.99 for a box of 20 rounds.

They are made in Russia and are advertised as non-corrosive.

I'm going to a gravel pit this coming Sunday to adjust the LER scope I bought and installed using a dedicated 91/30 mount from S&K.

If anyone says a Mosin is hard on the shoulder, this 105 pound girl will tell you your a pathetic wimp. She fired over 30 rounds exactly the way she is in the picture.

That's impressive. Couple years ago I picked up some surplus ammo that makes even veteran shooters flinch when shooting my nagant, she is welcome to try them.

I must be like a broken record...Mosin's are the most over-rated rifle on the ' Big recoil ' issue.
My girl's shoot them too, no issues.
And the sportered K98 8 x 57, no issues.
And a Swede m96 6.5 x 55, no issues.
And Savanah (pictured) is a natural shot, rifle, revolver or shotgun. Actually quite amazing to see

As far as throwing down a 'shoot this ammo' glove? If it's AP LMG ammo or such I wouldn't shoot it anyhow. Firing LMG ammo through a bolt is just silly IMO, it's dangerous too.

Edit; and yes this one has a slip on recoil pad. But that one is long since moved on. Her go-to is the 8 X 57 K98 now.
The M44 we've now is au-natural but the M39 has the screw on purpose fit butt pad. Helps with the shorter LOP I find

The recoil from a Mosin isn't the issue. The 7.62X54R has the same powder capacity as a .30/06, so logically it cannot kick more when both rifles weigh the same. The issue with the Mosin is the wicked curved butt plate, and I notice that Tokguy's gal uses a rifle with a slip on pad, and I suspect the gal in Fiddler's photo also has a modified stock or is shooting reduced loads.

didnt think i would have to specify that the bayo sits in a box and the RIFLE will have a scope put on it.................

Dude your statement did state that would mount the scope on the bayonet and not the rifle... Sorry had to let the grammar troll out to play for that one.

My .308 will do a darn good job on most of what's out there in our bush and it is nowhere near the same caliber yours is.

Sorry but its my rifle and there is nothing modified or reduced. She fired surplus 150s, 150 soft points, and a few 203gr soft points but the rifle is sighted for POI for 150s. She mostly fired 150gr surplus.

I just never understood where this "Mosins kick like a Mule" rumor started. Even my M44s and M38s buck less than my average 30.06.

i was hoping the row of "...." would allow the sarcasm in my reply. we need to use a sarcasm font lol

S&B, PRVI, And Federal makes X54 soft points in several weights. Also, MFS and LVE from Russia makes several weights of soft point bullets for hunting. Personally, my best load is a 150gr soft point that I home load with a .312 bullet. It shoots better in every Mosin I own.

He didnt, that's just how you read it. You read it as a run on sentence which was wrong. He clearly mentions the bayo, then ends the sentence with a period and begins another sentence about scope mounting.

...actually the deer in our country are becoming much harder to kill...moose, elk and bear too...better diets and more aware of their need for fitness in the 21st C. don't-cha-know?...and after the workshops they put on for themselves they all need to be shot at really really long distances because of all the hi-tech optics they now use to spot danger like hunters...it's twwoooo, it's twwoooo!

I don't think I can post it; the video is likely too large to manage ( and I'm a little sketchy on how). But her kid sister shooting grapefruit offhand with an M44 and Czech surplus is good watching too.
I find it quite amusing when 'us men' get all bent out of shape when a woman shoots at our level; or even...gasp... surpasses us!
News flash there Archie Bunker, girl's shoot really well when they are inclined to.
A whole bunch of dead Germans in the FSU are testament to that fact. Soviet Women snipers proved quite apt at their task

Recoil doesn't differentiate on gender.

I've shot lots of far more powerful cartridges than a 7.62x 54 , from all types of shooting positions, and few have felt a so obnoxious as shooting a MN prone while wearing a T- shirt.

Stock design, rifle fit to the shooter, recoil pad and shooting position all play a part in FELT are recoil. I've never considered myself a wussy, mostly because I know about these things. ;)
