So I ordered a Para ordinance 1911 in 9mm, only problem is it is a few months away. No worries I picked up an NP-29 to play with in the mean time. Got bored today, so I broke out the sand paper and turned it from this to this.

I've never been a huge fan of the 2 tone look, but it grows on me. Nice to see. I've been thinking of picking up an NP-29 as my first pistol (sometime next month hopefully), unless I can manage a great deal on a BHP.

You stopped too soon. Sand the flat sides of the frame as well. That way all the rounded parts are blued and flat parts are in the white. Should be very striking.

If you do this come up with some way to do it so that the sides of the slide rails don't get sanded as well. You don't want to sand those as it could affect the slide's fit.

I've been contemplating that or sanding the curved portions of the frame to leave some black between the white. Had to go pick up my son from school, so it will have to wait til tomorrow either way :)

If it were me I'd sand the frame as mentioned and re-blue the slide release lever. Well... after I filed it down to a more normal shape. I HATE extended slide releases and oversize thumb safeties. The big safety gets in the way of my strong hand thumb and the support hand thumb tends to ride the slide release.

Then to showcase the trigger I'd sand the side of that as well.

I was thinking that myself. The slide stop and safety were parkerized or something so I can always airbrush them black again. I don't mind the oversize slide release and the safety is not extended.

K, got bored again and polished the curved portion on the frame, looks better than the flats I think. Still some tool marks I will work out before it's completely done.

That actually looks really cool. I may consider doing that with my NP-28. How much time have you spent on it so far?

Probably 4-5 hours total today. The slide and hammer were super easy and fast (just put a sheet of sandpaper on the bench and ran it one direction over it) the grip safety and the frame was TEDIOUS! And still needs some TLC with the sandpaper to be 100%.
