Screwed up my Redding competition seater ?
I loaded 20 rounds of 300 WM with 180gr. TSX and 77 to 79 gr of H1000.
Heard some crunches at 77.5 to 79 gr.
After i'm done I stumbled on the Redding die instructions and they says NOT to use the die with compressed load.
Do the die will survive ?
Something to do with a colum of air ?!

The crunches you hear is grains of powder compressing, if it takes too much force it might be hard on the screw for the seating adjustment. It's not a very big threaded rod to handle that torque. Try using a drop tube to help with powder column.
 
Compressing powder produces that much force? I dunno man, fine threads have some impressive specs. But hey, one should learn something new every day. OP, what's your overall length, and how'd you get that number?
 
I doubt you damaged the die. I can't see compressing gunpowder causing machined steel to warp. If anything you run the risk of getting a bullet stuck in the cup of the seater. Had that happen with HEAVILY compressed loads for the 9.3x62 with IMR4350 and the 286 TSX. Too long a bullet for the powder charge and not enough powder charge to get reasonable velocity. Abandoned it for the fuddish round nose cup and core and an thrilled with the results.

The COAL is 3.340
And the loading numbers are from various sources for 180gr bullets, that is why I started low.

Both Barnes and Hodgdon shows 3.340" as Max OAL. Hodgdon gives 79.4 as the max load.
Redding giving that kind of warning sounds like lawyer speak to me. Really only means that if something bad happens, and it's highly unlikely it will, they won't honour the warrantee. I wouldn't worry about it. Compressed load are nothing to be concerned about and neither air nor powder is going to bother steel.
