HELP! Caught 1911 fever!!

Hey Shooter! Seen your collection including that double barreled 1911! You have awesome toys. I'm on a more limited budget. One 1911 will do. May trade up to a REALLLLLY nice one one day though.
My cure for any big purchase fever?.... Threat of divorce! That would be too expensive!

All good. I have a friend that just went through a divorce.

He says next time he'll find a girl he hates and simply buy her a house.

And....if you think one 1911 will do, you're in for a surprise!

why do some people want to drop a slide with an empty mag in the gun? to me a mag that holds the slide stop firmly is a good thing, not a bad thing

Hiya!
I did look on the Dlask site. The one for sale is not any of the ones pictured. Has an extended non- ambi safety. Fiber optic front sight, extended mag well, adjustable BoMar type rear sight. Extended mag release and checkered straight rear spring housing. Also has an interesting two tone finish. Almost purplish frame and blues slide. Tight as a drum. Love an all steel gun! Really tight slide stop to release when the slide is locked back on empty with the mag in. I could not release it with two hands. You have to drop it and let the slide slam on the empty chamber which I hate to do! No problem with the mag out. Must be the follower or something.

Told my wife what your friend said. She thought it was really funny....for now!
As for owning only one....every collection has to start somewhere...Patience, my friend, patience!
I'm working on getting approval for a few other toys first.

Having gone thru one myself many years ago that cost dearly financially I would say.... "Why do divorces cost so much?" - "'Cause they're worth it". :p

..... Back onto 1911's..... yeah:

If you get the fever, watch out! And just like Lays chips.... you won't be able to have "just one".

Been "into" 1911's for well over 30 yrs now. In that time & since there have been 'many'. And still have 'some', too.

Good luck & welcome to the club.

You've got the 1911 fever....you sir are completely ####ed!

I came down with a horrible case of 1911 fever about 3 years ago....seventeen 1911's and one 2011 later (still have them all as I fear selling any will trigger the plague) and my fever still hasn't broke.

Good luck, it would be easier to get off heroin.

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but you know that what methadone is to heroin...Glock is to the 1911. There's no need to suffer any longer. The Glock comes in a .45 acp offering for those times when one must feed the "demon within". Then, once you burn through a few mags and your mind is in a state of euphoria, you throw the Glock in the lock up and forget about it. The Glock will never beckon to you in the middle of the night "clean me, fondle me, my rails are fouled hurry!"...think of the time you'll save?

It is Dr. recommended to wean yourself from 1911 dependency. DO NOT GET RID OF ALL YOUR 1911's AT ONCE, YOU MAY SUFFER AN ANEURISM, OR OTHER SEVERE SHOCKS TO THE NERVOUS SYSTEM. Start slow, mark in your calendar on a monthly basis as to when you will place a WTS on the EE and FOLLOW THROUGH! Before you know it, you'll be 1911 free and enjoying life once again. Your friends and family will notice the difference in you and will once again believe in your decision making abilities given enough time. All is not lost, there is hope...there is Glock.

Yuk yuk yuk, I'm a JMBrowning guy, so BHP and 1911's seem to follow me home. :D

I've got my STI Spartan 9mm Single STack that I'm using at the NSCC Matches in Connaught this coming August 2014 since I took a BNIB SIG P226 last summer to the Nationals, just for poops and giggles. :D

Now for the Base Borden CQB matches, my G17 gets the nod since the matches involve a little bit of bumping around while shooting the AR from the Modified Prone position, strong side shoulder ends up meaning strong side holstered pistol gets ground into the dirty/grassy/sandy range floor.

A couple of years ago while delivering a CQB clinic up in Thunder Bay, ON, there was a super enthusiastic shooter who had to show me his most precious Baby Desert Eager in 9mm. It was holstered into a fine calfskin Zahal holster. Upon hearing, "Adopt the Prone Modified Position!" He winced and as the match director, I positioned myself behind his prone position. :( It was a hoot to see him squirm and grind that fine holster and scratch that Baby Desert Eager on the range floor.

Enjoy the 1911 addiction! If you want / need another 1911 pistol, just quit smoking! You will surprise yourself how much $ you save and now you can direct that $$ to the 1911 fun. Besides, your wife will approve. Tell her TacticalTeacher said so! :D

Okay, if yer a non-smoker, just quit drinking! There's your Springfield Armory TRP Operator Elite 1911; now you are good to go! :nest:

Cheers and keep helping dem nooobs out there!
