I have a near new M2HB barrel kicking around.
I bought it a while ago with the idea of building a single shot 50bmg rifle.

Now I'm wondering if it makes more sense to sell it to an M2 owner, and get myself a Non-Milsurp barrel like Walther, Pac-Nor, Lilja, etc.
Accuracy wise, it certainly does, I want to know if the dollar value is there.

Thanks!

If your barrel is the old style screw in barrel for the M2HB, it is more desirable than the newer interrupted threads of the FN M2HB conversion. However, in both cases, if your barrel is chrome lined, then it is not a good candidate for conversion to a bolt action, as you will destroy your chamber reamer when you try and cut a chamber through the chrome. You would be better off with a barrel blank in 50BMG.

I had my first Boys ATR converted with a brand new BMG barrel, and my second one was done with a Kreiger barrel blank. The second one was a lot easier than the first.

It is the old style with continuous thread. (I didnt know that newer ones use interrupted...)
IDK if it is chromed or stellite lined. As it is already chambered, I wasnt going to re-chamber it.
It is generally agreed that the military chamber is somewhat loose, and not as accurate as can be. That is part of the reason for me considering going aftermarket.
If I can get $650 for my current one, I might just get a new barrel. :)

you should be able to see the gap in the rifling part way down the barrel where the liner ends if its stellite lined

i see used/ fairly worn ones going for $300, never seen one in really good/mostly unused shape though

I would agree with that....$200 to $300. I have seen the odd very good ones go for around $400 or so, but that was a while ago.

The interrupted thread type are what the DND is currently using (since the mid 90s).
