Our Church had their Men's group summer 'wind up' on Saturday and 19 guys showed up at my cousin's farm to shoot skeet and rifles.
I'm not big into skeet shooting, but we did go through 4x250 12ga. #8 bird shots. Federal Blue, one misfire out of 1000.
That wasn't the surprising part, it was how well the .22's performed, ammo included.
The rifles that were brought by various people were:
4 Ruger 10-22's, 2 Lakefield Model 64's, 2 Savage Mark II's, and 1 CZ.
The ammo I'd donated was a brick of each: Rem Cyclone, Rem Thunderbolt, Rem Game Loads (the cheapest stuff I could find)... out of those 1500 rounds, not a single misfire and only one FTE, from my wife's 10/22 which had around 500+ put through it. I've personally been using Rem Game Loads before tapping into my stock of mini-mags. my wife's 10-22 eats anything and shoots them well, my 10-22, not so much, it's picky.
My cousin donated around the same amount in Winchester and Federal bulk, I wasn't paying close attention to which guns were shooting which, but out of those 1500 rounds, only 3 misfires. not sure if there were any FTE's, but a few of the extended mags did jam up on the 10-22's, my steel lips didn't have a jam all day, which was also surprising.
Our only gripes were how dirty, particularly the Remington ammo, made our guns. the cheap stuff definitely isn't as clean as the higher end stuff. I was using a boresnake when I'd guessed about 100-150 rounds had gone through each gun.
Have you noticed an increase in 'budget' ammo quality or did we just get lucky?
Edit: they were all thoroughly cleaned after and were completely nasty.
