I have an older Winchester model 70 push feed that I'd like to keep around. I would like to put a new barrel on it, and Rem 700 take offs are cheap/abundant. Obviously I would have it installed by a gunsmith properly, is it doable?

The Winchester shank is smaller, although the pitch is the same. The Remington barrel face counterbore turned off, the threads recut, shank length adjusted, with barrelface to boltface gap set, and chamber reamed to set headspace.
It is very do-able.
I am going to be retrofitting a Remington take-off to a Ruger 77. Same procedure.
