What truly obsolete chambering would you like to see make a comeback?

308 Norma mag, 38-55 Winchester, 225 Winchester.

Dave.

Okay, I'm intrigued, why the .308 Norma? Performance wise the .308 Norma won't do anything the .300 Winchester won't do as well, although I can see where target shooters might prefer the longer neck of the Norma round. But the .300 Winchester has done well enough in competition to debunk any theoretical advantage attributed to the .308 Norma or the .30-338. What am I missing?

I will add my votes for the .350 Rigby, for the original the 400/350 with the 310gr bullet. Never really saw the point to the newer Rigby mag 225gr bullet at 2600 fps that suffers the same lack of heavy bullet capability as the 35 whelen did. As an aside I have long thought an interesting build would be a 'poor mans Rigby' rechamber one of my ubiquitous 30-06 as a fast twist 35 whelen for the 310gr Woodleigh bullets. Easy to find components and load for and should be able to get the heavy bullet out to Rigby velocity of ~2150fps.

Another obsolete cartridge deserving of a mini-comeback is the 425 Wesley Richards. A 410gr bullets at 2350fps, the rebated rim allows chambering in standard actions. Would make for a classy and semi-practical 'big-gun' out here for moose/grizz/bison etc and a dream trip to Africa for Buffs... if only brass, bullets and dies weren't ridiculously expensive and difficult to obtain (I think Woodleigh does make the bullets)

The .33 Winchester would be a good one to bring back seein' as there are nice Model 86 copies being made
these days. The first .338 to hit the scene back in 1902, and with today's powders and better steels, it
could equal the .338 Federal with ease.:)

5mm rim fire for sure. .303 Savage. Endless possibilities with regards to the old time classic calibers. I would buy a newly made, reasonably priced .303 British bolt rifle in a heartbeat.

While I can appreciate the fervour with which some people tout their favorite cartridge, I would likely have them all if I could afford them. Alas, I will have to stick with my old friends, .303 British, 8x57, .32 Winchester, 30-30, 30-06, and the others from days gone by.
