Both have ruffly the same price point.
Thinking of a rim fire above the popular 22LR.
Both of these rifles have kawt me interest.
Which would be a better one to own as far as accuracy, reliability
and such?

Let's leave the stock ingredients owt of it for now.......

Zastava by a large margin. Blueing is superb, all real steel (not that cheap crap most new guns seem to be made from), fully adjustable trigger, Mine shot as good or better then my cz's, and they feel like a centerfire rifle not like a youth gun like so many new 22lr's do.

If the Zastava had a 10rnd rotary mag it would be a no-brainer. Regardless, I'd go with the Zas for the classic wood & blued finish.
It feels like a "big-boy's" rifle and over-built for the .22lr round….if you like that.

I'd take the Zastava for the wood alone. Those Buck Rogers looking stocks just don't do it for me. But it would be nice to get the interchangeable butt and comb on the American if you were wanting to switch back and forth between pint size and full grown shooters. I can't really think of anything awful to say about the Ruger otherwise....

ive never heard of a Zastava.

that in itself would take it off my buy list.

Ruger on the other hand you can buy anywhere and get parts for anywhere and buy after market anything for, pretty much anywhere.
i picked up a ruger american rimefire when they came out and ive been nothing but happy with it.
infact i take it out more then my Savage BTVSS that cost almost double what the ruger cost me.
the fact that it runs any and all the aftermarket ruger mags is a massive bonus.
if you dont like the plastic stock, which ill be the first to admit i prefer wood, but if you dont like it Boyd's makes a wood for $90 that looks boss.
that said i thought for sure id replace the plastic stock for a wood but i still have the plastic one on there and its been good.
ive even had it out below -30 with no problems.

but like i said, ive never heard of or shot the other one so i cant give an opinion on it, but if QC is a worry for you id say go check them both out in person if you can.
mine is excellent and ive no complaints, nor have a heard of any.

just went and did a search and was checking out the Zastava.
looks like a poor mans CZ.
or at the very least a cheap mans CZ, haha!

they look like a good rifle though.
have never heard or seen or handled one, but ive only been shooting for 40 years.

here ya go.
its on sale for $287 here in Canada.
for that price i might even pick one up to try it out!

strange.
i see just as many articles saying how crappy Zastava's are as i see ones about rugers.

at the end of the day i dont think we are comparing apples to apples here.

Mine in 22 mag. Waited almost a year for one with descent wood. I think it was well worth the wait.
