Hi folks

I'm considering reloading for pistol cartridges (9mm & .45) but I want to learn from someone who knows what they're doing before I decide whether it's something I really want to get into and, of course, actually starting to do it.

Is there anyone in Southern Ontario who does instruction like this?

I don't know of any formal courses per se. I have seen a Reloading workshop offered by Cabela's while I was in Winnipeg, they may mirror that at the Barrie store once it opens. If not, your next best bet is to find someone involved in reloading who is willing to show you the ropes.

You might also want to look at some Youtube videos on reloading. I learned a great deal from watching reloading videos.

Of course, a classic suggestion is to buy/borrow/steal a reloading manual. I found Lee's Modern Reloading (1st Ed) on Internet Archive. Its a good read: https://archive.org/details/Modern_Reloading_1st_Edition_by_Richard_Lee

Reloading is a long way from being rocket science. Especially 9mm and .45 ACP. Both are extremely easy to load with the .45 being a bit easier. Mostly due to the size of the case.
Don't know if anybody runs courses, but RCBS has a how-to on their site that'll give you a reasonable idea of what's involved. Go here. Add the W's. .rcbs.com/guide/

Get some reloading books (2 or 3).

Read there intro chapters. All you need is there.

Enjoy your new hobby.

As Suberman pointed out, makes friends with guys picking up brass at the range and see if they will let you take notes on their next reloading session.
