Anybody buy one of these? buy it, don't buy it, What ya like, what ya hate, don't waste your money, etc etc. Im looking at the one with the stupid muzzle brake thing and im wondering does this actually make a difference when shooting or does it hinder its performance, cause I might pick one up but I dunno yet, anyone got any info?

A muzzle brake reduces recoil, by redirecting some of the gases rearward, unfortunately, this also redirects some the noise rearward, which greatly increases the noise to the shooter.

I had a plain 100 atr mossberg............ in my opinion dont waste your money i hated that rifle it almost got smashed over a tree an left in the bush. I will never own a Mossberg rifle again, their shotguns yes but the rifles no

It's a shame as Mossberg used to be an innovator of some great rifles. I suspect if he was alive today the founder of the company would not be happy with the direction the company has gone.

I always keep an eye out at gunshows for their vintage 800 series, especially the full stock M version.

Its too bad you dont like Savage's. They are a pretty good option and much better than the Mossberg's. Your next bet is a Ruger American. But!!!!! If your willing to put a few extra dollars you might find a used tikka (probly not stainless) for less than 600$. Weatherby's are pretty damn nice as well.

There are alot of options and asking everyones opinion is great start, just remember that they are opinions.

^^^While i am also not a fan of Savage, there are a lot of good entry level rifles out there. Or a used better quality rifle from the EE. Just anything other than a Salvage Axis

:agree: Good call. Nice to get if one comes up.:)

Sweet deal congrats.
I had no idea one could still find these in Canada.

What caliber are they in?
Just curious.
223 & 270Win. I didn't realize that the actions were different lengths on these. I thought all long action like the Tikkas.

Well, I'll go against the grain here, I have a Mossberg 4x4 and love it. It is based off of the ATR action same as the NTrain. It's a shooter more than capable of minute of deer. Now I have had an Axis that I traded for a 100 ATR, and I would not even consider trading back! In my opinion the stock on the Mossberg is much stiffer and just feels better than the Axis stock, I personally even find the bolt smoother on the ATR than that of the Axis. I'm sure there will be a great deal who would disagree with me, and that's fine, but remember this is my first hand experience with these two particular rifles. For what it's worth, my 4x4 came equipped with a muzzle brake, and I prefer it without. Just get what fits you best and I don't think you'll be disappointed. Rifles in this price range are all pretty comparable, the only exception would be the Remington 770. Cheers.

I really like the Mossberg mvp in 223 and it feels like a quality gun to me, but I haven't had a chance to pick up a night train yet, in all honestly im lookin for a rifle from Canadian tire, and whatever 308 that feels the best to me that I like im gunna buy but its nice to ask other people and save myself from any future headache if possible. I already have a m305 so buying another 308 just makes sense then I only have to stash one type of ammo and if your wondering why im gunna buy from Canadian tire this is $403.75 reason why lol
