Glock Carbine Kits... Does anyone use them?

I keep seeing one at my local shop (HERA ARMS kit). I just traded off my AR, so I'm looking to pick something up to fill the Carbine role. I'm not interested in picking up a PCC ( I had a JR Carbine, I hated that it didn't lock back on an empty mag, otherwise it worked great), and another AR doesn't interest me right now.

So if you own one, do you use it regularly?

A carbine is a shorter version of a full size rifle. A sub gun is a "sub" rifle calibre or pistol calibre carbine. Not the most accurate description as all sub guns are pistol calibre. The kits are ok but not worth the money and they will never compare to a traditional carbine.

Thanks TDC, I know the difference between them, I was just using the industry-standard description. They are always referred to as "Carbine Conversion Kids." Nomenclature aside, I know they are limited in usefulness. I just want something to play with at the range. I like variety and I don't want to drop a grand on a PCC.

My range is also not well-suited to rifles and carbines. There are seven pistol lanes in one room and only one dedicated rifle lane in a seperate room. We are not allowed to use anything other than pistol calibers in the pistol range. Besides that, the range is only 25yards. It's the reason I got rid of my AR, I couldn't really push the AR to its limits.

given those restrictions, i think a conversion kit, TP9 or restricted BRS99 would be alot of fun. maybe buy two pistols, put one in the kit, keep the other for pistol shooting and only have to worry about one kind of mags, and one kind of ammo.

Now that I think of it, haven't used mine in a few years...

That TP9 is pretty neat, but I don't have 2k+ to drop. Ditto to getting a BRS99 or a second Glock. I've got an M&P on the way, do I can spend some time with that on the range.

I have a Roni kit for my G17. Fun little carbine kit.

If you're shopping for a Roni kit, be sure it's not air soft version someone is trying to pass off as the real thing.

I also have a Roni with a red dot mounted. It's fun but doesn't accompany the Glock to the range every time. I need to get an attachment piece to raise the red dot up half an inch or so, the Roni stock is straight so it's a bit tough to actually get behind the red dot while shouldering with a proper/comfortable cheek weld.

Aside from that, I'd recommend them if you've got some extra $'s kicking around. I don't need to mention that many of these type of kits aren't compatible with compensated Glocks do I? {Boom:eek:!}

I picked up the roni kit, looking forward to using it with my g17, got it set up with flip up irons, vtx sparc, and a combo flashlight/lzr combo. Not sure when I can get out with it though...

I was shopping around for a while for a conversion kit. I really liked the Kpos, but didn't like the price. I really liked the look of the hera arms GCC kit. but it is now discontinued. I managed to find one at my Local gun store. picked it up for 250$ a few weeks back. really happy with it, other than a few little gripes. I ended up putting a cheap bushnell red dot on it, sighted it in for 15-20 yards, keeps on target really good. very easy to use and swing side to side.

That is quite the SHTF set up you've got there. How does the Glock Mount in that kit?

The kit works only with the 3rd and 4th gen glocks. You have to installed the hera arms extended trigger pin and rear sight. Then it's locked in the kit via front Glock rail and that pin. There is a YouTube video online. Search up hera arms gcc install
