Hi folks. Posting my findings in regards to key mod. Recently I purchased an XCR-L with key mod stock. Found rifle to be a fair bit lighter and real comfortable to handle. But I do like rails and handles. So I installed a magpul foregrip. I had to grind down mounting nuts and shorten provided screws. It worked. I could have purchased key mod but that meant waiting. Plan to install another rail for a sling attachment again I will not wait and fit my own. So story is as key mod bits and pieces are not readily available (yet) be ready to be self reliant or really patient. Would I order another key mod rifle stock, at this time not sure.

Everyone says the new keymod xcr "feels" lighter. What I would like to know, is it? By how much if it is? Has anyone weighed up a old one and a new one to see the difference?

Overall difference will be minimal.
A few oz's off the front help to balance the rifle. Balance is more important than overall weight. IMO anyways.

Edit to add;

As rediculous as it sounds, I can feel a difference with my XCR just by removing the brake.

With the keymod and light barrel there is about 1 1/2lbs weight saving over the railed version with heavy barrel and it does completely change the balance of the rifle.

The only thing that feels lighter is your wallet. cha cha its not just the rail that is slightly lighter it is also the barrel as mentioned by someone else. Personally I do not like "light barrels"

Always found the original XCR to be front heavy... due to the heavy NR 18.5" barrel/piston/rails... this is a step in the right direction.

The major factor in the weight/balance difference is the light barrel, not the shaved bits of aluminum from the handguard.

But yeah, the difference between old XCR with heavy barrel and a new one with light barrel is significant.
