After many hours deciding between the M&P9 and the Glock, I finally made up my mind and pulled the trigger (no pun intended) on the Glock. Got it for a good price brand new w/ range kit at a local store near my range.

Paper work went through today and I brought home my first Glock 17 Gen4! I can't wait to throw some lead down range with it! :dancing banana:

Good choice, you won’t be disappointed. Picked up a 17 gen4 and it hasn’t failed me yet. Did take some time getting used to the grip angle, other than that very happy with it, well made piece.

I did that about 1 year ago, except I don't clean her up and such. I put exactly 1000 rounds without clean up to see if she live up the legend of the Glock, actually she does, not a single jammed except a brass bound back to eject port in split second when I was shooting too close to window. Now, I'm wating for Gock 19 gen 4 to show up soon brother and Sister are reunited.

Congrats! I have the same gun too.

Now, strip it and clean that gooey goop they put on the slide from the factory. And re-lube it. And enjoy!

NO You dont clean out the Gold goop. Read your MANUAL! You are to shoot and let the stuff work into the metal. It bonds with the slide and becomes stronger.

Pretty sure my manual said remove it also. Said to clean it only before you are to shoot it otherwise let it sit.

I'm super pumped and already have some parts coming such as extended slide release, extended breakdown lever, and mag well plug. Maybe trigger bar too. That's the best part and why I chose it, the possibilities are endless to customize it!

Congrats! Welcome to the club. I got a M&P9 this week but I was sitting on the fence for a while. I was undecided between yours and the M&P9 but my hands told me to go with the M&P.

Congrats!

GLOCKS are funny. My Gen 3 G17 feels like a 2x4 when I pick it up yet I shoot it OK compared to my 1911 9mm and it is reliable, like so few jams that I can't remember the last one. It is a machine.

Congrats on your 1st gun! If I may, I recommend an SKS as the next one.

Not my first gun just hand gun. I have 3 others!

I felt the same until I shot the glock but shooting it especially with the thicker back strap made a world of difference other than holding it in store. The angle threw me off at first.

Yup!! Never a jam or misfire in two years.. I love that

I like to hear that!!

I'm a Glock lover. Simple and reliable. I think they are ###y ;). I've been told to leave the factory goop on the firearm. I have a Glock 26 with 300 rounds down it so far and the factory goop hasn't worn off yet.

The copper colored substance (Loctite C5-A) on the cam area of the slide is a high-temperature, factory applied lubricant for new pistols. It should be allowed to remain until it naturally wears away to assure long-term lubrication of this area.

Regards.

Mark

Congrats now on to youtube to learn everything about them,, 25 cent trigger job first off,,, I use GM camshaft lube as my oil,, its the slipperiest lube I've tested, then a connector and extended release etc from the glock store for xmas perhaps. or this week like I did,,,
