Well, it arrived yesterday - Windham .308 SRC (AR-10) - thanks SFRC. It comes with a decent plastic hard case, manuals, sling and 10/5 rnd steel mag.
I pulled it apart today to do an initial strip / clean. It was lightly oiled from the factory, cleaned lost of that off and G-96'd it. Barrel was pretty clean - their video says they test fire 10 rounds and it wasn't any more than that for sure. Takedown was identical to any AR - push in the pins and done. BCG and charging handle come out same way.
Build quality seems pretty good, no machining marks, no sharp edges or finish blemishes. It seems to be built pretty solid, everything seems that much more solid than say a .223 AR. Has a nice Hogue grip, fits my big hands nicely. Mag release is left side only, safety is right side only. Hand guard is plastic, but it is metal (I think steel, maybe alum) lined. Also includes a detachable sling swivel on the bottom of the gas block. Buffer and stock are pretty standard type stuff. BCG is much beefier than my .223. Has std A2 style flash suppressor (.308 version). Obviously heavier, they quote something like 7.5 lbs, but all that beefiness has to show up somewhere.
Tried it fitted with a couple of spare scopes I had lying around. Ended up putting a Millet LRS on it - it is comical how big that scope is, but is doesn't look too bad on the larger sized .308. Prolly not going to leave it there, but will be fun to play for a trip or two.
Will be taking it out this w/e. Only have a few boxes of Win .308 atm. Will use that and then re-load those, but I need to find some .308 brass - anyone know of any in stock anywhere?
Overall, my first impression is this thing is built solid and well and comes in at a fairly reasonable price point.
Took some pics for fun.
