Wholesale sports uhhh no 22 ammo?

Likely as not, the same old story.
"We were told we can't get it, so we didn't put in an order." "All the ammunition is being shipped overseas", etc.
I really don't like shopping there. The dolts behind the counter in Edmonton, actually refused to sell me product they had, because I was going to get the last one. Scope mount bases, that I was supposed to pick up for a buddy, FWIW. Really. "If we sell you this, then we won't have one to sell!" Genius! Western Gun Parts was a dollar or two more, but were actually willing to sell what THEY had!
I had got a WSS gift card for a Christmas present. Took me five trips in there with something in particular in mind, only to leave empty handed, as they were out of stock, or they had only half what was needed (Sako Optilock bases in stock, rings at another store, "if you don't mind checking in in a week", etc.).
I ended up getting what I needed off the EE, where the guys that are selling stuff, usually actually have it! And want to sell it!
Seems it's a lot easier for the management there to let the front counter folks make excuses, rather than hustling and finding sources. Too much like work, eh?
Not a business I would invest in.

Surprise surprise...no sale sports. Went in the Langley store couple of Augusts ago...not a single target in the whole store...not one.
Stocking of stores is done from Calgary head office. Thus we in Langley get Walleye gear instead of Salmon stuff, and turkey stuff...when the nearest turkey is in Victoria and the south east. Something like a person who has never golfed ordering golf stuff for a big box store. Orders equal amounts of left handed, when righty/lefty is probably 90/10%.

Wholesale Sports in Edmonton has had signs that say ".22LR ammo sold out" up for a couple of months.
Well that's not surprising....12 gauge is a bit of an uncommon fancy pants calibre right?

There is a shortage of .22LR in Western Canada right now based on what I've noticed on my recent trip to Edmonton. I checked everywhere I could think of between Vancouver to Edmonton, and all I could find was specialty target rounds etc.
There certainly isn't a federal bulk pack available anywhere.

Wal-mart in Abby had several (like 12) 525 Federal packs last week... Crappy tire has been stocking those Remington Buckets o bullets from time to time.
I'm not sure CCI even still makes ammo! LoL

One more thing to consider is that .22 is a hotter commodity in the summer when many enthusiasts bring out their .22's to plink with while camping on crown land. That combined with limited distribution makes what appears to be a shortage.
Local WSS here has basically nothing for 22lr right now either. And Cabelas and everyplace else is slim pickins. Plenty of 22 WMR and 17 HMR for the time being. Guess I should have bought a magnum instead of that 597 tactical. I see Cabelas is selling off empty Federal ammo cans which formerly held 22lr, must've been better margins in selling it in individual boxes. Thank goodness the wife is 8 3/4 months pregnant and I can't go anywhere to shoot right now anyways....
