Can anyone give me any further information on this rifle, and let me know if what I think I know is wrong? By no means am I a Mauser expert, but am curious if this is just a russian capture they forgot to peen the eagle/swastika on, or if it's something more.

so far this is what I have gathered:

Receiver marked 'ar' '93' indicating Mauser Werke A.G. Berlin-Borsigwalde built in 1943. only numbers that match are the stock and reciever that I can see. The bolt is a frankenbolt, marked with different stamped numbers and electropenciled. same with floor plate, not matching. But eagles/swastikas intact, missing cleaning rod and front site hood (russian capture no?). Anyhow, I'll shut up now and let the pictures explain the rest. Thanks!

ar 43 (arsenal code and year), 3292h (serial number)

Missing cleaning rod and front site hood - yup, one of the less well equipped Russian capture rifles too. The stock repair also says fixed for storage, but not by Germans.

BTW, I have seen a similar Waffenampt code (WaA 280) on the cross stock recoil lug on a Russian capture rifle.

thanks maple, curious by what you mean by less well equipped russian captures though. what else is missing?

The usual shortages are the cleaning rod, the front sight hood and the two stock-takedown screw locking screws. If someone has all these, they got lucky. You, on the other hand should not buy a lottery ticket tonight.
