Picked up a norc friday went out to the range today and had a complete failure... The bolt open latch with not catch even when I hold it in the locked position .. the bolt shifts to the right side of the reciver and the bolt is grounded off so much on the left side it has no hope in grabbing it .. so pretty has zero bolt open fired it 10 tims only should I get some kind of warranty on it Its totally unsafe with the wobble in the bolt correct... FYI none of my other m14 bolts shift from side to side like this one

take it back and get it swapped out for another, but do an inspection in store before you take it home, that is a pretty big issue with safety and such, if they place you got it from has any sort of customer service it should be no problem to do a swap out the rifle.
 
The bolt is so loose it wobbles while the case is chambered .... thats a bad thing im assuming .., It's been 6 years sence I owned a m14 Im not so familiar any more .... Its not a local shop its a provenance over so I can't see it before I buy but I know the customer service is decent .. Fingers crossed

that is not one of the normal QC issues we have come to expect and accept from the Chinese rifle, definitely return it.
 
I dont think even adding a extended bolt stop would work either . The bolt shifts over to the right when engaged and does not have enough face to grab on to because its ground down so much on the left side
 
that sounds really messed up! any chance you could snap a pic or two? thats does suck about the store being so far from you, but hopefully a phone call to them and they will take care of you, even ask them to have the new rifle inspected before being sent, I am sure they will see the defect when you send the other one back. Good luck with it, there should not be that kind of bolt movement, the way you describe it sounds scary like a blow up could happen at any minute, it may just need a new bolt, but if the receiver is out of spec then the rifle is pretty much junk.
 
If it hasn't blown up already it's probably quite safe. There have been cases of messed up bolt catches on these rifles. Send it back anyway...but the bolt is probably OK
 
sadly, more evidence that the Chinese are sending out the bottom of the barrel from the 90's manufacturing..... last manufacture dates known anyways
it now more than ever is a good thing we have stand up dealers here on CGN that generally look after their customers in times like this.
 
Yeah I would say that bolt is in rough shape, for a brand spanking new rifle, that kind of roughness cant be passed off as normal wear and tear. Hopefully the place you got it from takes good care of you, let us all know what the outcome is.
 
Update 1 Called today to find out the person who deals with this matter is not in today .. I was told by the person on the phone to send a detailed email with what is wrong .. I feel this may be a stall tactic to eat up the 7 days. I am taking matters I to my own hands and shipping it back tomorrow my self

Any one in Edmonton have a tight m14 I can compare the reciver too I think this problem lies deeper then just the bolt I think the reciver is crooked .... The op rod is about 1\8 off to the left of the gas cylinder and the right side of the op rod is about center..... Basically the op rod pushes out to the disiembly notch on its own .. The op rod pushes up and to the right so it will fall out as soon as it's pulled back and the bolt open is engaged
