Its been 3 weeks since my accident, between work and getting healed I finally got around to looking at the firearm. For those that didn't read it click HERE.

Here is a photo of the inside of the revolver. What do you guys think, is this real dirty or just what it should look like?

I removed the firing pin, its hard to get a close up of such a small item but its definitely not round anymore.

Also, I'm not sure if the spring for the pin is in great shape either.

Let me know what you guys think.

I'm going to get in touch with Murray Charlton and order the pin and spring.

Also what do you guys suggest I clean the inner workings of this firearm with??

Thanks for any info.

That spring and firing pin are toast. The damage to the pin was caused by the bad spring.

Here's what the spring should look like, that's out of my 460V with 1100+ rounds fired.

And your gun isn't dirty, especially compared to mine. But it looks dry in there, when you got your revolver did you disassemble it to clean and lube it? The last 3 S&W revolvers I've bought brand new were completely dry inside, not a single drop of oil anywhere.

I have had it sent to Murray once for timming issues. I have never had apart other than today. Your parts look brand new compared to mine. Approx 200 rounds for me.
How do you suggest I clean it and could I use a drop or two of Rem Oil or Dry Graphite?

Just disassemble the action, I spray all the parts with non-chlorinated brake clean and scrub with a nylon brush. Once every thing is clean, reassemble and lubricate (with your choice of lubricant) all metal on metal contact areas.

Holy crap, dude! at least you are ok. i"m still not clear exactly how that damage was done to you hand. anyway heal well and hope you are back shooting soon

If these guns were not junk you would not have to do that. Its suppose the be the uber reliable revolver, but the new ones that smith has coming out are junk for the most part, I have had several and have had issues with most of them. You may get a good one but you have a good chance of getting a lemon too, the QA has gone way down hill imo. My 460V was brand new, and had the firing pin and spring issue only after 10 rounds. I send it to murray, had it fixed, then got to 60 rounds and it happened again. All factory ammo.

I had a 629 that would lock up as well, brand new and clean but every other cylinder full of ammo, the cylinder would not turn and would get hung up. Not sure what the issue was there either.
