T-97 first impressionns

I shot both the Tavor and the T97 today. My first impressions are that they are different guns. The magazine release on the T97 is way too small and on the wrong side.

The Tavor is much more beefier in comparison and louder. The ergonomics just make sense.

I enjoy shooting both but I think I need to fire another couple hundred through.

Sweet purchase ! They do look cool and fun. I was either going to buy it or the VZ non res. Ended up with the VZ - cheap ammo, more aftermarket parts, reliable as all heck, and the mag release makes sense I couldn't get the T97 mag release with out taking it out of my shoulder pocket. Im sure with practice you could become good at mag changes with it. Still might end up buying one for giggles.

I had completely ignored this rifle because i didn't like that carry handle. I want something i could put a RDS on easily so the T97 did not fit the bill. But having read this thread it's lead me to that Flat Top upper, combine that with the seemingly awesome comments on the firearm i might have to see if i can't pick one up...

I'll buy one if someone brings it in with the original PLA furniture which has the forward grip.

UPDATE- I had issues when I tried to shoot out to 300 yards. I was way high. Long story short,,,,took it back to the vendor and he replaced the rear sight,....gun is spot on @ 200 and 300 yards. "seems the aperture holes in the sight were all the same size" . new rear sight is 100%.

I cannot say nothing bad about them, Chinese or not they're based of what one of the largest army is running and well that's it. China must love them to arm millions with them.

damn, am I going to buy a t97? that flat top mod is awesome.... but at 1400$ you are getting close to the tavor price.

Tavors are selling for around $2700-$2800 now, so I would say at $1400 w/rail the T97 is 50% the cost of a Tavor. I wouldn't call that close, maybe more than some would want to pay, but not close.
