Hey all,

So it looks like my Noveske might have a buyer, and it was my intention to take the money from it, and invest in a cheaper and potentially non-restricted black rifle. The Tavor has had my eye for a while, as it's obviously a beautiful looking rifle.

In order to make sure that I purchase wisely, I have been doing some research and trying to figure some stuff out. I wanted to get one with both a short and a long barrel, but it sounds like the barrel isn't quick and easy to change out, and replacement barrels might not be that easy to find, so I'm starting to think I'll have to choose between non restricted and short barrel, and I'll probably go with whichever comes up first that's the right deal for me.

I'm also struggling to find info on what are the changes from gen 1 to gen 2. I've searched these forums and Google and come up empty on a list of what makes the gen 2 different, and if it's worth the generally higher asking price on the EE. If anyone's able to educate me in this regard, I'd appreciate it.

Cheers.

Gen1 and 1.5 don't have a full top rail. Gen2 also has it's differences between when they were manufactured. The difference being the trigger group, one has a secondary trigger reset spring that can be removed but owning both it's not a worry as both factory triggers are crap. I'm sure more people will enlighten you further but from a new buyers stand point there is no reason to buy anything except for a new generation model(Gen2)

This! If you shoot only at a club then the CTAR isn't a bad way to go but why limit yourself? The NR barrel is a few inches longer, sure. But it won't impede you in any real sense even if you're a CQB guy. Hell, the tavor with the 18.5" barrel is slightly longer than a 10.5" AR. That's pretty handy in my books. The Military Arms Channel on Youtube is a good place for info on all things Tavor. Yes, Tim has the American version but our Israeli version is pretty close to the same. He's got good videos on how to assemble/disassemble the rifle among other things. TvPress-Pass, our loveable gear freak(;)), also does good videos on the Tavor and posts a lot of good information on the subject.
