who makes a C7 style barrel?

Hello all,

I am looking to build a C7A2 clone. My biggest problem so far is finding the right barrel.

I am looking for:

20" length
Heavy profile
1:7 or 1:8 rate of twist
5.56x45 or 223 Wylde chamber

Who manufactures such a barrel?


Where might I find such a barrel in Canada?

The C7 uses a Hammer-Forged Government-Profile with a 1:7 twist. 20" barrels are hard to come by in general here in Canada, you might want to see if Irunguns can bring one in for you. A BCM is a good choice.

Colt Canada might actually be releasing barrels on their own in the coming months, so it may be worth it to hold out.

I realise what the Colt Canada barrels are, but I'm not too hung up on getting the exact thing. Just has to be the right profile and length, and handle 68-75gr bullets and 556 ammo. I don't care if the chamber is Wylde or actual 556x45, and I am amenable to a 1:8 ROT vs. a 1:7...

I would love to have a Colt Canada barrel, and I would be willing to save a few extra $ for it. I don't want to wait indefinitely however, if I had some prospective timeline to work with it would help...
 
High Standard also make one with FSB and barrel nut already installed. S&J had them for $300 a while back.

I already looked at Stag.

From what I understand, "Government Profile" is a standard weight barrel, while Colt Canada's barrels are more along the lines of "HBAR", or "Heavy Contour".

Also, on the Stag website, they only list their 20" barrels with 1:9 twist rates; for the heavier 68-75gr bullets I will be using I believe I want at least a 1:8 if not a 1:7 ROT...

C7 has the government profiled barrel - skinny under the handguard and only heavy aka 0.75" dia ahead of gas block.

As said, this is not correct. C7A2 uses the standard 20" A2 profile barrel.

Also a 9 twist barrel will do you just fine up to 75gr bullets. 1:8 you only really need for long 77 grainers and up. Depending on the actual twist (may differ from spec) you MAY get 77gr SMKs to stabilize out of 1:9.
1:7 is only needed to stabilize tracer, which are super long. It's bearing length that determines the necessary twist, not actually weight. It's just expressed as weight b/c that's the easiest way. You're making this super hard for yourself, what Hitzy posted is perfect, also the Stag arms bbl as GT suggested.
