After speaking with Jesse Tischauser, I wanted to go with an M2 built by Accurate Iron. Well they did not want to go through the trouble (even though I told them I would source one out myself, send it to them in the US and then send it to a US based FFL) did not even respond after the initial "Don't want your business, we are too busy to deal with Canadians" no matter how much I begged them.
I was feeling abit down, but I was able to order a Benelli M2 3 gun edition through Clay at Prophet River, so I got that going for me which is nice. (these are done by Benny Hill at triangle sports, close enough) but I still wanted that sweet lightened bolt (turned down by Accurate Iron again)
I discovered that Taran Butler did the original bolt work on the Accurate Iron guns and began his own line of custom parts. I tracked his number down and called him up. I Spoke with him on multiple occasions on the phone as he was the ONLY Benelli aftermarket manufacturer to deal with me. He was polite, friendly and made sure I was setup right (even sent me a Taran Tactical T-Shirt for free) and when some stuff got lost by the FFL (verified by tracking numbers) When I called him up he resent, direct to my door via USPS express, another package on his dime that included the missing bolt handle, bolt release, oversized safety, and the T-shirt (they were shipped regular post mail to the ffl and were not insured). Did he have to do that? no, but he did anyways. Luckily my bolt carrier did make it and was not involved in the shipping fiasco.
Even though he was busy, he always took the time to chat with me about shooting and gave my some advice, etc.
Have I shot with him? no, but neither have you.
Have I met him? no, my situation does not really count, but this sure comes close and this was *MY* experience, not some second hand bs.
Who are your friends? are they acquaintances? forum friends? whats the story?.
Accurate Iron charges around $1400 to $1500 for "the full meal deal" and that is if you can convince them to do work for you. Taran is on par with that.
But yes, absolutely you can get alot of ammo for that cash. But I wanted to build the ultimate Benelli and that was my sacrifice!
