Shopping for a 1-4, preferably with a 30mm tube, and a QD mount. Thinking of the Viper PST or the Trijicon Accupoint at the moment, but open to all suggestions.

Will pull double duty on a short (11.5") AR and a Tavor. Thanks

Elcan Specter DR. Won 3gun match first time using it. Super duper high quality glass and daylight red dot.

I loved my PST. Solid scope.

For budget stuff, you can now get a Crossfire II 1-4 with a standard duplex for $180. I can't imagine a better deal for basic function.

But for mega-budget stuff, take look at the shortdot too eh?

I'm using a Vortex Razor II HD 1-6, love the scope! Only thing I didn't like was that I had to buy a throw lever for quickly changing the magnification. This should've come standard in my opinion. Glass is crisp and at 1 power I can shoot with both eyes open.

30mm eh? Just an option but so far having a good time with a Nikon 1.5-6x24 I got from Wolverine Supplies. A tad weightier than the Leupold I used to have but the nice 24 objective makes a fast acquisition for me at the 1.5 end. The one I got has a BDC crosshair. Exactly what I wanted.

For half of the cost there is also a Nikon M-223 1-4x20 (1" tube) if you don't need the extra reach.

One quirky thing about the Nikon is after you finish zeroing you can adjust the turret so it reads zero. On the one hand it means you can adjust it on the fly, on the other hand, you can sometimes accidentally knock it off zero. No caps on the turret.

Having run a Nikon 2-8 with a very dense BDC, I'm of the opinion that I need something both illuminated, and simple. For me Duplex is a no go unless there's an illuminated Dot.

I'm very interested in the new Burris XTR II 1-5. That looks to be the best of everything. 5X erector, price in between the PST and the $1000 plus stuff relatively speaking. I like the look of the reticle as well.

The Leupold Mark 6 1X6 offers a true RDS scope at 1 power, so much like an Aimpoint, and then you have the magnification option. That works for both rifles. Excellent glass and quality.

Trijicon accupoint TR24's in ADM recon-x mounts on my 16" guns. Triangle reticles.

Good clarity, illumination is great during sunlight and low light. Washes out in going from dark areas to light areas though.

I really wish trijicon would offer greater reticle choice in their 1-4 line of accupoints. If they incorporated their reticles from their ACOG line into the accupoint line I would be happy as a pig in ####.

Great suggestions, should have specified, was trying to stay close to or under the $1000 mark. And am dead set on something that will go to a true 1x on the bottom.

The Shortdot, Elcan, and Mark 6 are amazing scopes, but way out of my price range at the moment. Not to mention the Elcan weighs as much as the AR. Lol

Which color triangle do you prefer?

Take a look at the Leupold Mark AR line of scopes, more in line with your budget, also Bushnell is worth a look, I have there ERS and it's a excellent scope for the money.
