Shorten PAL Approval Times

BC seems to be getting unpredictable. On one hand, I see some people geting their first RPAL/RPAL within 30-40 days. On the other hand, there's people who have PAL's about to expire that have been waiting since early April.

I'm at 53 days since my renewal showed up online, but I still have some time before it becomes a concern. Heard from another guy who has been in the system since early April and has 12 days until expiration... still no license issued and they just said he needs to wait. In his case, since it takes a couple weeks after approval for the license to get printed and mailed, it is doubtful that he'll get it on time unless maybe they rush the license out and send it Express Post.

Seems kind of silly... comparble to the bank refusing to acknowledge your mortgage payment and sending a letter saying they can repossess your house. Never heard of anyone getting charged for unlawful possession because of renewal delays, but some folks have received letters saying they are in unlawful posession. Doubt any unlawful possession charge would hold up in court, but as the saying goes, the process is the punishment.

Make no mistake.. ######s like wyatt would jump all over the chance to law such a charge and force X person through the court system.

Rule is send in your renewal WAY in advance by registered mail

Thanks luckych4rm for this detailed explanation. I just got worried when I saw the check your application status website down. For a moment I thought they rejected my request !

Blahahaah you think you all got it bad? My old lady been waiting since August of 2013!! Still at the CFO desk. I'm assuming it has to do with her career as a home day care.

I don't remember anything on the initial application asking for what the current occupation. I believe that in theory, they shouldn't know anything about occupation without doing some digging unless she applied for an ATC at the same time ;-P

I am currently able to access it. Perhaps clear cache and try a different browser. What error is it giving?

Yep. I probably should have listened to the guy from Wholesale Sports who I told me I should renew way back in the fall when I was picking up some fuel for the 30-06. Figured mid May to September would sufficient, so I printed out the renewal form online and sent it off "early". Next time around I'll send it 354 days prior to expiration though. I would be pretty disappointed if I had to cancel my opening week hunting trip.

Anyway, still lots of time left so I shouldn't be complaining... just didn't think it would take this long and then heard horror stories from a few people who have had their licenses expire while waiting. I'll start calling on Monday July 28 which will make for about 1 month to get it approved via phone plus up to 2 weeks to have the card made up and sent through the mail.... basically 1 month of nagging opportunity.

Hey guys is there any other way to check besides the CG key when i log in and hit return (cause there's no license check on that page)it says the system is down for repairs been saying that for a week :(
I checked yesterday, worked for me -- I'm still not in the system yet, but the web site worked.
In fact just checked again and it's working fine.

It's beyond pathetic BS to say the least

+1 on the website working. I too am not in the system yet BUT I have had troubles when I DON'T LOG OUT using their buttons. DO that every time. There are two log outs. First one, then then other (you'll see what I mean when you do it).
Also, Ctrl-F5 when you are at the log in page is suppose to clear cache and reload the page from scratch.

I just went through Rpal process. It was 2 months from the time it was mailed to the time it was in my hand. I phoned to inquire and they said they are 6 weeks behind on opening the envelopes. I know a guy who is now on his 4th month. I think his application was forward to CFO for face 2 face. The CFO's at least in Manitoba seem to be backed up.

Sent mine in Registered April 20th
Received and entered April 25th
Called after 45 days and was told references didn't respond.
2 days later references called in.Was told it went to CFO July 4
Today called, still at CFO July 16

Not sure if there is a way to contact the CFO for Manitoba. Here's to hoping I'll have it in a month or two!

Thanks again luckych4rm , it worked for me. It was saying we can't process your request right now. I think it was their website that was down. Because I checked as I do always and it worked. I appreciate your help though :)

So, when one logs into the gvnt's site and attempts to enroll as an individual using their First Name, Last Name, Email Address, etc, PLACE OF BIRTH: does that include the province or just the city or just the province or....? Also, what format (spaces, slashes, province abbreviation or full name, province or city first, etc.)?
I just want to make sure I am doing it right.

Thanks!

I kept trying both, as I had the same question/concern. I'm reasonably certain that it worked with City, Province (eg Vancouver, BC), but I was so damn excited when it actually worked and showed that my application was in the system that I can't be 100% sure which one it was that I had tried...
