Wondering about trying a SBE2. Not much of a waterfowler but they really feel great and balance beautifully in my arms. Some guns just fit nice. I would likely occasionally duck hunt and do preserve pheasant with it. My question is would it reliably cycle 1 1/8oz target loads should decide to use it for clays?

Mine does. After 10k rounds it didn't. Replaced recoil spring with a Wolff XP spring and it is good to go for another 20k I'm guessing
I've had mine for 10 years and it has faithfully cycled everything I punched into it. It was primarily purchased as an Alberta goose gun and then I got into trap and used it for that as we'll for a couple of years before I bought a dedicated trap gun. I've also used it for pheasant hunting and sporting clays. It's the best aiming and shooting semiAuto shotgun around, in my books.
Not crazy about the recoil and the price. An sx3 can do everything a sb2 can do with less recoil and half the price. Also can shoot 1 oz trap loads which an sb2 may or may not do. Sold my used for a good price and traded for an sx3. Used the money to buy a wife a nice ring and traded a rifle for the sx3. 2000 plus for a nice semi is tough but for that money I would buy an a400. Now those are nice guns. It should cycle those loads but you will have to cycle some heavy stuff first. They too recoil more so that recoil pads on the side don't work for crap.
I've had a couple. SBE I and now a II. You absolutely cannot go wrong. There is nothing negative to say about it particularly if it fits you. I shoot the lightest target loads I can find for 3-gun and it works flawless. I have used 1 oz hand loads with good success as well. I've said this before and hope I don't offend, but if the recoil of this gun bothers you, you really need to try a 20 ga. In other words, the recoil is a non issue for most even with 3 1/2 " loads.
UPDATE: Well I bought the SBEII today. After agonizing over the Franchi and the SBEII I ended up with this one. With the sales on right now with Cabelas opening I was able to get a price match through EPPS and got it for $1679 in camo. At these prices in 3.5" configuration the Franchi was only $350 cheaper. I'm loving the fit and feel of this gun and hopefully it is the last semi I need to buy. I'm primarily an O/U guy but dang this Benelli feels nice. So any suggestions with break in? I weas thinking of running a couple of boxes of heavy 3 inchers to loosen her up?
Go straight to the anti aircraft stuff eh? Alright, that's what I will do.
