I ordered a Garand operating rod from the Gun Parts Company (Numrich). The operating rod was allegedly in "good condition". Anyhow, when it arrived it was not in "good condition". It was in one hundred percent $&@#$ed-up condition.
So I sent the rod to Columbus Machine Works in Columbus, Ohio. I had a wonderful chat with Mr. Mike Stacey and he assured me that my operating rod can be rebuilt. He explained to me that Garand operating rods can be rebuilt again and again.
My gas cylinder bore measures 0.530", so Mike will attach a slightly oversize piston. The piston will measure 0.527"
Mike advises that the turn around time is about 2 to 3 weeks. Columbus Machine Works will gladly ship repaired operating rods to Canada and I thought I would advise my friends here at CGN.
