I have had Prophet River import a number of rifles for me... go to their website (link in the above dealer toolbar)... go to the importing firearms link... print the five page document... it is self explanitory. Your first job is to find a gun that the seller is willing to ship to PR's FFL in WA... tell the seller that there is NO EXTRA work for them... they just ship as usual and your importer does the rest. You have to fill out and send pages four and five of the import forms... the seller in the USA MUST fill in their portion and attach this on the outside of the box next to the shipping label... once received by PR's FFL (Northbound Sporting) in WA there may be up to a four week wait for the shipment to cross the border to PR... as soon as PR receives the gun, they will call you... you make final payment at that time for the import fees, taxes on the purchase price ( converted to Canadian) and shipping from PR to you.

I just received one import last week and have one in WA waiting for the border shipment. It is a very easy process...

For fees, refer to PR's website.

you will need to find an approved exporter, or have the guy selling it apply for the one time export exemption/permit

Borderview/Daves in Lynden should be able to help. Once approved, you meet them at the border to collect it.

Is Borderview/Daves $200 like PR??? Really cuts into any savings buying down South...

I've used irunguns, but only to buy items off their USA website so there was NO import fee...

I have a question . If a fellow American friend brought his rifle across and gifted to a new friend or bonus for a fine hunt , one is that legal and two does the gun have to someday be brought back to the states ?

Just give Prophet River (see sponsor link above) a call. They will take care of everything. I am a very happy customer.

It's not about savings, it's about availability... every gun that I have imported, I searched for in Canada for years without any luck... when I spotted one for sale in the USA, I jumped on it... and lived with the fees to get it here... even so, every gun has a price ceiling... I wouldn't overpay for one in face value to a seller. I have yet to meet a seller in the USA that wouldn't sell to me once I explained the process.

An American can not leave the US with a firearm, a scope, powder, bullets, ammunition, and hundreds of other controlled items without the proper import/export paperwork in place in advance.

After the hunt he must return home with the firearm just as we have to do. It would be listed on his US paperwork.

If he wanted to gift the rifle all the US export regulations would have to followed.

There is no easy way to import from the US other than to use licensed import/exporters... and it is all due to US regulations.

Check out IRUNGUNS.ca they are a CGN dealer from what I understand if you buy the rifle thru them they do not charge import fees.

The fees are just hidden in the price... but are probably lower because they are processed in batches as opposed to an individual firearm.

Then I guess it then just depends on what the landed at my door pricing is on whether I will use them or not in the future.

Myself I have only ever used Rusty Wood Trading Company in Mission, BC saved me the shipping cause I just went and picked it up.
